Bangladesh vs West Indies 2022
WI vs BAN Series 2022: Top 7 performers from Bangladesh team
Bangladesh had a rather disappointing start to the 2022 West Indies tour, losing both Test and T20 format series. Their overall team performance in both formats was utterly disappointing, with the exception of a few standout individual performances. However, Bangladesh did make a strong comeback in the ODI format and whitewashed the Caribbean side. Let's take a look at the seven best Bangladeshi performers in the WI vs BAN Series 2022.
Bangladesh team's best 7 performers in the WI vs BAN Series 2022
Bangladesh’s batting performance throughout the Caribbean tour was disappointing. In contrast, the bowling unit had a spectacular outing during the tour. Here are the top seven Bangladeshi performers in the WI vs BAN Series 2022.
Shakib Al Hasan
M: 5 | Runs: 240 | HS: 68* | Wickets: 3 | BBI: 1/10
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan took part in the Test and T20I series but skipped the ODI series. Despite the fact that Bangladesh lost both Tests and T20Is, Shakib was one of the best players in these two formats. He was the third highest scorer in the Test series with 138 runs. Shakib struck two fifties in the first Test. In the T20 format, Shakib was the second-top scorer with 102 runs and also picked up a couple of wickets.
Read Bangladesh clinch a clean sweep against West Indies in ODIs
Tamim Iqbal
M: 5 | Runs: 218 | HS: 50*
Tamim had a quiet tour with the bat in the West Indies. He only had one half-century in seven innings. However, Tamim Iqbal’s performance as a captain in the ODI format was eye-catching. His leadership qualities and on-field decision-making were brilliant. That is why Tamim Iqbal’s captaincy was one of the major positive points for the Bangladesh campaign.
Khaled Ahmed
M: 2 | Wickets: 10 | BBI: 5/106
Khaled Ahmed's selection was not appreciated by some Bangladeshi cricket experts. However, Khaled showed in the Test series that he is possibly Bangladesh's best fast bowler in the longer-version format in overseas conditions. Khaled finished the Test series with 10 wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the second match.
Read Tamim announces T20I retirement
Taijul Islam
M: 1 | Wickets: 5 | BBI: 5/28
Taijul Islam had to wait till the last fixture to finally play a match on the West Indies tour. The left-handed orthodox spinner seized the opportunity by picking up five wickets in the third ODI and helped Bangladesh whitewash the Windies in the limited-over series. It was Taijul Islam’s best bowling figure (5/28) in ODI cricket.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz
M: 5 | Runs: 33 | HS: 16* | Wickets: 14 | BBI: 4/29
Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz is considered a utility player for the Bangladesh national side. He is a very effective bowler in the Test and ODI formats and can bat a bit in the lower middle-order. Miraz didn’t make any impact with the bat, but he had a successful tour with the ball. Miraz didn’t play in the T20I series but picked up 14 wickets in the Test and ODI formats.

Nasum Ahmed
M: 5 | Wickets: 7 | BBI: 3/19
Nasum Ahmed made his ODI debut in the WI vs BAN Series 2022 and made an immediate impact for his side. Tamim Iqbal utilized him at the beginning of the innings, and Nasum’s spin caused a lot of problems for the Caribbean batters in the ODI series. The left-arm orthodox spinner picked up 7 wickets on the West Indies tour.
Nurul Hasan Sohan
M: 8 | Runs: 217 | HS: 64
Nurul Hasan Sohan once again proved that he is the best wicket-keeper batter in Bangladesh at the moment. Nurul had a good time with the gloves on the West Indies tour, picking up 10 catches and making 2 stumpings. Nurul’s highlight innings on the tour was when he made a 100-run partnership with captain Shakib Al Hasan in the second innings of the first Test. Besides, he was among the top run scorers for Bangladesh on the tour.

Way Forward
Bangladesh lost two series and won one on their 2022 West Indies tour. Bangladesh players have a lot to take from this tour, which will be useful for better performance in the next series. Bangladesh team management should take note of these issues and take steps to improve the performance of the players. However, Bangladesh departed the West Indies with confidence after winning the ODI format in 2022. Otherwise, it would have been a disappointing tour for Bangladesh.

WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022: Bangladesh eye West Indies whitewash
Bangladesh sealed their sixth bilateral ODI series against the West Indies with a 9-wicket victory in the second match of the WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022. The Tigers are now eying to complete their third whitewash against the Caribbean side when both teams meet each other in the third ODI on Saturday (July 16). Besides, finishing the Caribbean tour on a high note would be a major priority for the Bangladesh campaign. The conditions will suit the Bangladesh players as the Providence Stadium assists the spinners to thrive. The third ODI match preview is discussed in this article.
West Indies vs Bangladesh ODI Series 2022: 3rd Match Preview
The bowling unit did the job for Bangladesh in the first two matches. More precisely, the spinners have been outstanding and exploited the Providence ground surfaces very well. Oppositely, the West Indian batting unit has found no clue in dealing with Bangladesh spinners. Therefore, the battle between Caribbean batters and Bangladesh spinners will determine the final outcome of the contest. The third match of the WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022 will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on July 16 and will start at 7.30 p.m. (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Bangladesh
Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal wants to give other players in the squad a chance in the third ODI. Therefore, two or three changes may occur in Bangladesh's playing XI for Saturday’s contest. Bangladesh are unlikely to rest any spinners for the match, as they are the team's main weapons in this WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022. Therefore, Taskin, Ebadot, and Anamul may be included in place of Mustafizur, Shoriful, and Shanto.
Read Sabbir, Soumya added to Bangladesh A team for WI tour
Bangladesh had chased down low totals in the first two matches, so the batters haven’t gotten enough chances to bat in this series. Tamim Iqbal may opt to bat first in the final match of the series in order to allow the batters to bat deep in the match.
Probable playing XI
Top-Order: Tamim Iqbal (captain), Anamul Haque, Litton Das, Middle-Order: Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan (wicket-keeper), Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Lower-Order: Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed
West Indies
The Caribbean team has struggled to perform in the ODI format in recent years. They have lost 10 straight ODI matches against Bangladesh. The venue of the WI vs BAN ODI series 2022, the Providence ground, is known for its slowest nature of wicket and the West Indian batters are not well adept at playing the spinners. Therefore, West Indian batters have found it difficult to deal with Bangladesh spinners in this ongoing ODI series.

In the third ODI, the batting unit needs to show that they are capable of playing spin bowling. The team management needs to chalk out a better strategy to outperform the Bangladesh side during the contest. Besides, the players have to respond to the match as per the plan.
Probable Playing XI
Top-Order: Shai Hope (wicket-keeper), Kyle Mayers, Shamarh Brooks, Middle-Order: Keacy Carty, Nicholas Pooran (captain), Rovman Powell, Akeal Hosein, Keemo Paul, Lower-Order: Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie
Guyana’s Pitch Report and Weather
There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms on Saturday (July 16) in Georgetown, Guyana. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy as well. Since the chasing team won the first two matches, the toss-winning captain may opt to bat second on this surface in the third ODI.

Verdict
The third match of the WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022 would be a dead-rubber contest since Bangladesh have already sealed the series. However, Bangladesh wouldn’t let a chance to whitewash the West Indian side in the series pass them by. Therefore, they will be all-in for the contest. On the other hand, the West Indies team will play to restore some pride. They will play to win the match and finish the series 2-1.

BAN vs WI 2022: Tamim equals Mashrafe’s record with ODI series win over Windies
The Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh national men’s cricket team sealed the 3-match ODI series against West Indies after winning the second match by 9 wickets on Wednesday (July 14) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Besides, captain Tamim Iqbal has also equaled Mashrafe Mortaza's record by winning the series. Now, Bangladesh's aim in the BAN vs WI 2022 ODI series is to whitewash the Caribbean side. The third match will be held on July 16 (Saturday) at the same venue.
West Indies vs Bangladesh Second ODI 2022: Match Report
Bangladesh chased down West Indies’ 108 runs in 20.4 overs, with captain Tamim Iqbal scoring the highest of 50* for his side. Bangladesh only lost Najmul Hossain Shanto’s (20) wicket, who opened the innings with Tamim in this encounter. Litton Das came out to bat at no.3 and remained unbeaten with 32*, securing Bangladesh’s 9-wicket victory in the match.
The Bangladesh skipper, Tamim Iqbal didn't think twice to bat first after winning the toss since it was anticipated that spinners would flourish on the Providence stadium pitch. Furthermore, it was taken into account that the Windies batters were inept against the Bangladesh spinners in the first game. Taskin Ahmed was even dropped by Bangladesh team management so that there would be room for another spinner in the playing XI.
Read Bangladesh bowl first in 2nd ODI vs West Indies
Mosaddek Hossain replaced Taskin Ahmed in the playing XI. Tamim fully utilized the right-hand spinner by handing him the new ball to bowl the first over. Mosaddek completed his 10 overs within the first 25 overs and even gave Bangladesh the first breakthrough in the 11th over. On the other hand, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed put immense pressure on the West Indian batting line-up and eventually finished his spell with 10-4-19-3. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the most successful bowler, picking up 4 wickets for 29 runs.
Bangladesh’s spinners did all the damage in the West Indies innings as Mosaddek, Nasum, and Mehidy combined to bowl 28 overs out of 35. Shoriful bowled 3 overs and picked up a wicket, while Mustafizur bowled 4 overs. Keemo Paul was the top scorer for the West Indies with 25.
Tamim Iqbal Equals Mashrafe Mortaza's Record
Veteran opener Tamim Iqbal has been doing a brilliant job since becoming ODI captain of Bangladesh. Under his leadership, Bangladesh have won five straight ODI series. Prior to him, the Mashrafe-led Bangladesh ODI team had won five straight ODI series from 2015 to 2016. Therefore, Tamim Iqbal has equaled the record of Mashrafe Mortaza by winning five straight ODI series as a captain.

Bottom Line
Bangladesh's comeback on the ongoing tour after disappointing performances in both the Test and T20I series is truly remarkable. The West Indian batters appear completely clueless against the Bangladeshi Spinners in the BAN vs WI 2022 ODI series. Bangladesh bowlers have dominated the Caribbean side and it will continue as the Providence Stadium in Guyana will host the third ODI as well. Besides, Tamim can improve his win/loss ratio as captain even further if he guides Bangladesh to whitewash the Caribbean team in the ongoing limited-overs series.

Bottom Line
If Bangladesh sweep the West Indies (3-0) in the WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022, the Providence Stadium in Guyana will take over as the venue with the best win/loss ratio in the ODI format. Besides, Bangladesh’s rating points in the ICC ODI rankings will also improve if they win all of the matches in the series. Therefore, Bangladesh have a lot to play for in this limited-overs contest against the West Indies.

WI vs BAN 2nd ODI 2022: Resurgent Bangladesh aim for series win
The Bangladesh national men’s cricket team finally registered their first victory in their 2022 Caribbean tour after beating the hosts by 6 wickets in the first ODI match. This was Bangladesh’s nine straight victories over the West Indies. If Bangladesh win the remaining two matches in the series, they will equal West Indies' record of eleven straight victories between the two sides. The visiting side's top priority at the moment is to win the WI vs BAN 2nd ODI 2022 in order to clinch the series with a game in hand. The second ODI preview of WI vs BAN 2022 series is discussed in this article.
West Indies vs Bangladesh Series 2022: Second ODI Match Preview
The Bangladesh bowlers were brilliant in the first ODI. Their efforts practically helped Bangladesh clinch the series-opening contest. In contrast, the Caribbean team couldn’t carry on their recent good run of form in the first match of the limited-overs series. In other words, the batting unit was clueless against Bangladesh bowlers. The WI vs BAN 2nd ODI 2022 will be crucial for both teams, which will be played at the same venue. The match will start at 7.30 p.m. (Bangladesh Standard Time) on Wednesday (July 13) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh's campaign is full of confidence at the moment after sealing the first match. The bowlers' expectations will be high again in the second ODI, but putting in the same effort in all matches is not possible. So, the batters have to come forward and display their best effort in the middle.
Read Mahmudullah hopes spinners shine in 3rd T20I
Bangladesh need a big partnership from the top order and someone has to play an anchor role in order to set up a big total on board. Captain Tamim usually guides the Bangladesh innings, but now the time has come for Litton Das to step up and play the role for the side. Afif Hossain needs to play a solid knock if he gets a proper chance to build his innings. Veteran Mahmudullah Riyad has been criticized for not performing to his full potential with the bat. Riyad also needs to show his true prowess as a pinch hitter, especially in the death overs.
In bowling, Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz had brilliant outings in the first match. However, no one can deny the fact that Nasum Ahmed and Taskin Ahmed were very economical in their respective spells. One major concern for Bangladesh could be their fielding. They dropped multiple catches in the first match, which they need to improve as soon as possible. There is no chance of making a change in the playing XI for the second match.
Predicted playing XI (Bangladesh)
Top-Order: Tamim Iqbal (captain), Litton Das, Anamul Haque
Middle-Order: Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan (wicket-keeper), Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Lower-Order: Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

West Indies
The West Indies campaign was probably expecting another ruthless performance against Bangladesh in the ODI format. However, the match result didn't turn out as anticipated for them. Batters' approach towards spinners was shambolic. The batters were nervous facing the Bangladesh spinners and the pacers also managed to put pressure on them as well.
West Indian batters need to come up with a proper plan to deal with Bangladeshi spinners. Besides, they need to find a way to rotate the strike rate to set up a challenging total. Bowlers comparatively did well for the home side, picking up four wickets while defending a low total. Mahmudullah Riyad survived twice in the first match. The outcome of the first ODI would have been different had Riyad been out earlier in his innings.
The West Indies may opt for a couple of changes in order to bolster their playing XI. However, the West Indian batters have to play a big part if they want to level the series at 1-1 by winning the second match.

Guyana’s Weather and Pitch Report
The forecast suggests that there is a strong possibility of rain with thunderstorms on Wednesday (July 13) in Georgetown, Guyana. Therefore, a deduction of overs is a strong possibility for the second match. The pitch would be batting-friendly, so opting to bat first could be a suitable option for the toss-winning captain.
Verdict
Many experts believed Bangladesh's chances in the ODI series would be quite slim after a dismal showing in both the Test and T20I series. However, Bangladesh once again showed why they are among the world's toughest ODI sides. The Tamim Iqbal-led team completely outplayed the Windies in the opening game and won by a comfortable margin to grab the series lead.
Read West Indies beat Bangladesh to sweep T20 series
Additionally, the players of the visiting team will have little trouble adjusting to the conditions because every game in the ODI series will take place at Providence Stadium in Guyana. On the other hand, the Windies team has to devise a better strategy for the second ODI because Bangladesh will begin as the favourite in the WI vs BAN 2nd ODI 2022. Bangladesh will attempt to win the limited-overs series in the second game in order to make the third ODI a dead rubber.

Bangladesh
The Mahmudullah Riyad-led Bangladesh T20I team has only won 1 match since the Super 12 round of the 2021 T20 World Cup. They lost 10 and one game had no result. This clearly indicates that the Bangladesh Twenty20 team hasn’t been in the best shape at the moment. They have shortcomings in certain areas which need to be fixed as early as possible before the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Bangladesh team management needs to find out the major issues through the remaining series before the upcoming World Cup. The approach of the batters to the shortest format, the inability of power-hitting and the lack of effectiveness in the death over bowling are some of the issues that have been revealed in the ongoing series. Bangladesh need to find a solution to these issues before the third match of the series. Otherwise, they will face consequences like in the second T20I.
There might be a few adjustments made for the series' final game. However, changes won’t make any big difference if the players fail to thrive in the actual contest.

West Indies
The West Indies had a tough T20 World Cup 2021, and a number of big stars announced their retirements post the mega event. The current West Indian team is relatively inexperienced and is led by wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran. Nicholas has shown good captaincy so far in the series. He has rotated his spinners and faster bowlers pretty well, which has proved effective during the contest.
Rovman Powell was outstanding with the bat in the second match. It seems Powell’s new role is to accelerate the run rates in the death overs. Furthermore, the West Indies have found solid opening partners in Mayers and Brandon. The team has built well under the leadership of Nicholas Pooran. The Windies will be eager to prove their progression by winning the BAN vs WI 3rd T20I 2022 as well as the series.

Pitch and Weather Forecast
There is a strong chance of rain on Thursday in Georgetown, Guyana. Therefore, the match could be interrupted due to inclement weather conditions. Batting first would be an ideal choice for the toss-winning captain at this ground.
Aftermath
Bangladesh’s performance in the ongoing Caribbean tour has been very disappointing. After a clueless showing by the batters in the Test format, there was an expectation that the batters would come out with a lot of intent in the shortest format of the game. However, it seems Bangladesh’s batting unit doesn’t have any idea of what to do in the middle, be it at the beginning of the innings or in the death overs. The bowling was subpar in the second match, conceding too many runs in the death overs.
Bangladesh need to find a quick solution to all of their major shortcomings in order to level the series. Will they be able to stop a rejuvenated West Indies side? The way the Caribbean team has been performing over the last two months, it will be a real challenge for the visitors to overcome the hosts in the BAN vs WI 3rd T20I 2022.

In particular, the batters have been heavily criticized for their approach and technique in both the Test and T20 formats. The visiting team can end the tour on a high note if they seal the limited-overs WI vs BAN Series 2022. Besides, some players will get a chance to reach personal landmarks before the tour ends.

Aftermath
Winning the ODI series will be Bangladesh's main priority right now as they prepare to wrap up their Caribbean tour. Bangladesh are a very strong team in the limited-overs format. Bangladesh will still be able to win the three-match series despite having had a difficult West Indies tour thus far. Additionally, the potential for achieving some individual milestones will motivate the cricketers to play better in the remaining matches of the WI vs BAN Series 2022.

BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022: 5 Bangladeshi players to watch out
Bangladesh’s performance in the Test format against West Indies was demoralizing, losing the series by a 2-0 margin. The Tigers T20I team needs to find a way to stop the Windies' aggression as well as to dominate them. Bangladesh’s target should be to clinch the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Losing the series would be regarded as a failure for the Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh side. Let’s take a look at the five players from Bangladesh who could be vital in the Bangladesh versus West Indist T20I contest.
5 Key Bangladeshi players in T20 series against West Indies
Bangladesh must follow the proper strategy in order to win the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Besides, the players have to execute the plan on the field. In this case, some players have to play with a little more responsibility. The five Bangladeshi cricketers who could be important in the series against the West Indies are discussed in this article.
Mahmudullah Riyad
T20Is: 115 | Runs: 2,002 | HS: 64* | Ave: 23.83 | 50s: 6 | Wickets: 37 | BBI: 3/10 | Ave: 26.94 | Econ: 7.19
Captain Mahmudullah will be a crucial part of Bangladesh’s middle order. He must accept responsibility for hastening the death rate. Riyad can also be an effective breakthrough bowler when needed. Besides, all eyes will be on his captaincy, especially how he will lead the Bangladesh team. Since January 2021, Riyad has been Bangladesh's second-highest run-scorer in T20Is.

Shakib Al Hasan
T20Is: 96 | Runs: 1,908 | HS: 84 | Ave: 22.44 | 50s: 9 | Wickets: 119 | BBI: 5/20 | Ave: 19.88 | Econ: 6.67 | 5W: 1
There is no doubt that ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be a vital player for Bangladesh in the upcoming BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Among the Bangladeshi players, Shakib has picked up the most wickets with 19 against West Indies in the T20 format. So, this stat will encourage him to perform even better in the series.
Litton Das
T20Is: 48 | Runs: 917 | HS: 61 | Ave: 19.93 | 50s: 5
Even though Litton’s performance in the recent Twenty20 Internationals hasn’t been so impressive, his experience will come in handy for Bangladesh during the series. In the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal, Litton will have to play the anchor role for the team.

Mustafizur Rahman
T20Is: 63 | Wickets: 87 | BBI: 5/22 | Ave: 19.65 | Econ: 7.57 | 5W: 1
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s cutter delivery will be a major weapon to put West Indian batters under strain in the series. Mustafizur alone can take the game away from the West Indies team if he finds his best rhythm during the series. The recent record is also in Mustafizur’s favor as he has picked up the highest 29 wickets for Bangladesh since 2021.
Nasum Ahmed
T20Is: 20 | Wickets: 26 | BBI: 4/10 | Ave: 16.00 | Econ: 6.44
Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has been a revolution for Bangladesh in the T20 format since making his debut against New Zealand in March 2021. Nasum’s ability to read the batter's mind and intelligent bowling has been impressive. Captain Mahmudullah usually deploys Nasum at the start of the innings to put extra pressure on the batters. This crafty spinner has so far been a big success for Bangladesh in the game's shortest format.

Bottom Line
The West Indies’ recent Twenty20 form hasn’t been impressive. Some new players have been incorporated into the Caribbean T20 squad. The hosts are therefore now a less experienced team than they were before. Bangladesh should seize the opportunity and strive to come up with a plan of strategy that would allow them to outperform the Windies side in the BAN vs. WI T20I Series 2022. Bangladesh have the real potential to win the series if their players play to the best of their abilities.

WI vs BAN 2nd Test 2022: Can Bangladesh Bounce Back to Level Series?
The majority of the blame must be given to Bangladesh's batting unit for failing to put up a fight against the West Indians in the first Test, instead falling by 7 wickets inside the first session of day 4. A low first innings total resulted from the batters lack of responsibility in the middle, with the exception of Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh are ready to make two changes for the WI vs BAN Second Test 2022 to strengthen the team. Oppositely, the West Indian team is in a positive mindset at the moment. They should be favourites to win the game if the hosts perform to their full potential. The second Test preview is discussed in this article.
Bangladesh vs West indies Second Test: Match Preview
The results of the second Test would have an impact on both teams' standings in the ICC Test Championship points table. The Bangladeshi team should concentrate on getting better in order to draw the series. Oppositely, it will be a fantastic chance for the West Indies to win two consecutive series and improve their PCT in the Test Championship. The WI vs BAN Second Test 2022 will start on Friday (June 24) at 8 p.m. at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh
One of the batters between Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain will be dropped to make way for Anamul Haque. The team management is now debating who should be rested for the second test. Mominul Haque is completely out of touch, having failed to reach two-digit numbers in his previous nine innings. However, he is still among the top five Bangladeshi batters with the best averages and most Test centuries with 11. In contrast, Najmul Hossain Shanto has a problem negotiating outside the off-stump deliveries, and somehow, he couldn’t overcome the issue.
Anamul Haque will take the No. 3 spot. He was included for the limited-overs formats but later was recalled for the Test side after Yasir Ali sustained an injury during the warm-up match. Anamul recently had a record-breaking outing in the DPL 2022, becoming the first batter ever to score more than one thousand runs (1138) in a season.
The other player who is likely to play the second Test is left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam. He will most likely replace Mustafizur Rahman, which is a kind of surprise. Mustafizur bowled really well in the first match and had the best economy rate (1.68) among the bowlers. Maybe Bangladesh's team doesn’t want to take any risk on Mustafizur Rahman as he is a premier bowler for white-ball formats.
Predicted Playing XI
Top-Order: Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Anamul Haque;
Middle-Order: Mominul Haque, Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Nurul Hasan (wicket-keeper), Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Lower-Order: Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed.

West Indies
The West Indian team doesn’t have any major issues as their pace attack has managed to put Bangladesh's batting unit under strain. The Caribbean side's main strike bowler is Kemar Roach, who picked up 7 wickets in the first match. In batting, Captain Kraigg Brathwaite has continued his good run of form with the bat.
Besides, those batters didn’t perform as expected in the England series, but they did well against Bangladesh in the first match. The likes of Nkrumah Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, and John Campbell all performed well with the bat. The Windies are expected to name an unchanged playing XI.
Predicted Playing XI
Top-Order: Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), John Campbell, Raymon Reifer;
Middle-Order: Nkrumah Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, Kyle Mayers, Joshua Da Silva (wicket-keeper), Alzarri Joseph;
Lower-Order: Kemar Roach, Gudakesh Motie, Jayden Seales.

Weather and Pitch Report
St. Lucia might have rain during the Test match. Therefore, the poor weather may have an effect on how the game turns out. The wicket may allow the spinners to excel. The toss-winning captain should bat first in order to score big in the first innings.
Bottom Line
Despite a disappointing first game performance, the Bangladesh campaign should be confident in its ability to win the WI vs BAN Second Test 2022. The West Indies' success at this ground is one of the factors contributing to their confidence. The Caribbean team has only one victory out of nine games played here. On the other hand, Bangladesh have drawn a Test match at this venue.
In addition, Bangladesh's team would be more equipped and motivated to draw the Test series with West Indies. But the Windies team will play with more confidence because they now lead the series 1-0. They are in the driver's seat and shouldn't want to ruin it by losing the series-ending match.

Is Mominul doing enough as Test Captain?
What went wrong for Bangladesh during the Test series against Sri Lanka, despite having a more experienced side and the benefit of playing at home? Prior to the series, Bangladesh clearly had the upper hand. However, they were unable to outperform Sri Lanka in the series. The batting unit, particularly in the second Test, should take the brunt of the blame. Bangladesh's Test captain, Mominul Haque, was the biggest disappointment among them. Mominul's captaincy has impacted his batting. There has been debate on whether he should continue to captain the team in the forthcoming BAN vs WI Test Series 2022. Let's discuss whether Mominul Haque should step down from captaincy.
Mominul Haque’s Performance as Test Captain
Mominul Haque made his debut as Test captain against India in November 2019. Since then, he has captained Bangladesh in 17 matches and led them to win three of them. Bangladesh’s arguably greatest victory in cricket to date came under his captaincy against New Zealand in January 2022. The Tigers beat the Kiwis by 8 wickets at Mount Maunganui. More importantly, a new-look Bangladesh side completely dismantled the New Zealand team in their own backyard. There was a hope that Bangladesh would only develop from there on.
However, things haven’t worked out as expected since then. Bangladesh failed to execute their game plan against an inexperienced New Zealand side. They lost both the away Test matches heavily. Bangladesh were favourites against Sri Lanka at home, but once again they couldn’t meet the expectations and conceded a series defeat. What’s more alarming is that Mominul Haque’s batting performance has declined in recent matches.
Read: IPL 2022: Meet the Top Individual Performers
Mominul Haque has played 9 innings since the historic Test victory over New Zealand in January. In those, his highest score was 37, and surprisingly, he failed to reach double-digit numbers in the remaining eight innings. The stats clearly indicate that Mominul is currently going through a series of bad patches with the bat. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t handle the pressure of captaincy, which poses extra pressure on his batting. Because Mominul has three centuries to his name since he became captain.
Mominul Haque has the lowest batting average among those who have captained the Bangladesh Test team more than once since 2011. However, the main reason for the decline in his batting average is his recent poor run of form.

Read Lack of team effort cost us the match: Mominul
The BCB has to decide whether they would like to give Mominul one more chance to thrive as a captain or whether they will look for an alternative option. If Mominul has been put under pressure as captain, removing him from the position will be a more viable option.
Who Can Replace Mominul Haque?
There are very limited options when it comes to picking Mominul alternatives for the Test captaincy role. Mushfiqur Rahim will not be considered for the captaincy role. Tamim Iqbal’s main focus is captaining the ODI side, while Mahmudullah Riyad has already retired from the longer-version format.
So, there are only two realistic options for the BCB to pick a Mominul alternative. They are Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Kumer Das. Litton Das has yet to captain the Test side, while Bangladesh have played 14 matches under Shakib’s captaincy. Besides, the record also backs Shakib as he has the best winning percentage as a skipper.

Bottom Line
Mominul Haque's overall batting record isn't bad, but he is not feeling confident regarding his captaincy and batting right now. He must overcome his mental obstacles to regain his batting rhythm. Mominul must also show his character in terms of decision-making both on and off the field. Will he be able to implement this in the forthcoming West Indies series? Or is it time for Mominul to reconsider his Captaincy role? However, BCB will reassess his place in the team and may hand over the captaincy to Shakib Al Hasan if Mominul fails to deliver as skipper and batter in the upcoming series against the Caribbean side.
