Rains to drench Bangladesh in 24 hours
The weather department has predicted light to moderate showers in Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over the country.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its forecast Wednesday.
Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The Met office recorded the highest 44 mm of rainfall in Chuadanga district in 24 hours till 6am on Wednesday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northeast Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

Expect some respite from the sweltering summer heat, as the weather department has predicted showers in the eight divisions in the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Chattogram division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, the department said.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the weather bulletin.
Despite the rains, a mild heatwave that is sweeping through the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Khulna, Jashore and Kushtia, may continue at few places, the weather department said.

The highest temperature was recorded at 36.9 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi sadar, while the minimum temperature was 24.5 degrees in Chattogram, Khulna and Rajshahi's Tarash upazila.
Meanwhile, the axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, the centre of the land depression, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northeast Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over the North Bay, it added.

Showers are likely to turn the heat down in Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, the weather department said Saturday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The mercury today reached 36 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was 21.5 degrees in Dimla.
The weather department recorded 101mm rainfall – the highest – in Rajarhat in the last 24 hours till 6pm Saturday.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged, the BMD said.
