Tecno Camon 30S Review: Budget-friendly Smartphone with Reliable Features
The Tecno Camon series is popular for offering budget-friendly smartphones with solid specs. Tecno launched the Camon 30S in October 2024 which promises to enhance user experience with an upgraded camera system, strong processor, and competitive display. Let’s examine its performance across key features and compare it to its predecessors and rivals.
Key Features of Tecno Camon 30S
.
Design and Build Quality
The Tecno Camon 30S is impressively sleek, measuring only 7.6mm thick, with an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance. The smooth finish and comfortable grip make it look and feel premium, rivalling the sturdiness and style of models like the Oppo Reno 12 F 4G, known for its military-grade shock resistance and scratch-resistant display.
While the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G has a slightly bulkier design, it offers a sturdy build but lacks the refined appearance of the Camon 30S. The Camon 30S is available in striking colours like Nebula Violet and Celestial Black, keeping it both eye-catching and practical. In terms of design, it aligns with more expensive models in terms of aesthetics, even though it remains budget-friendly.

Display Quality
Tecno has stepped up its game with the Camon 30S’s 6.78-inch FHD AMOLED display, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits of peak brightness. The colours are vibrant, and the high refresh rate ensures smooth transitions and responsiveness, ideal for browsing, watching videos, and light gaming.
Comparatively, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G offers a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is slightly less smooth than the 120Hz display on the Tecno Camon 30S, though both are bright and visually pleasing.
The similar-priced competitor Oppo Reno 12 F 4G raises the bar with its stunning 2100 nits of peak brightness, ensuring exceptional visibility even in direct sunlight, but Tecno’s display performance remains competitive within its price range.

Camera Performance
The Tecno Camon 30S is equipped with a 50MP (f/1.9) main camera featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), alongside a 2MP depth sensor and an auxiliary lens. This combination provides sharp, vibrant images even in low-light conditions. The 13MP front camera is also supported by dual-LED flash, ensuring bright selfies even at night.
Comparatively, the Tecno Camon 20S Pro packs a 64MP primary camera, offering slightly better detail and low-light performance, while the Oppo Reno 12 F 4G impresses with a versatile camera setup that includes an 8MP ultra-wide lens, making it ideal for group photos and landscapes. The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, with its 50MP main sensor and added ultrawide and macro lenses, gives more variety, though the Camon 30S holds its own with impressive image clarity.
Processor Performance
At the heart of the Tecno Camon 30S is the MediaTek Helio G100, an octa-core chipset built on a 6nm process. This processor enables efficient multitasking and smooth app performance, making it capable of handling daily tasks seamlessly. In simple words, it delivers reliable performance in this price category.

The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Oppo Reno 12 F 4G both feature comparable chipsets. However, Samsung’s chipset offers a slight edge in app-launch speed, while Oppo’s Snapdragon 685 processor provides efficient multitasking and a snappy interface. The Tecno Camon 30S strikes a balance with decent performance and energy efficiency, keeping it in line with competitors.
Gaming Performance
While the Helio G100 is not designed for high-end gaming, the Tecno Camon 30S performs reasonably well with casual games and popular titles like PUBG and Free Fire on low to medium settings. The 120Hz refresh rate also contributes to smoother gaming visuals, which is a major plus for users looking for a budget gaming option.
Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Oppo Reno 12 F 4G have similar performance levels, though Oppo’s Snapdragon 685 chipset offers a slightly more fluid gaming experience thanks to its efficiency. If gaming is a high priority, the Tecno Camon 30S performs adequately, but there are minor advantages in performance with Oppo’s chipset.

Battery Life
With a robust 5000mAh battery, the Camon 30S provides ample power to last a full day with regular usage, including browsing, streaming, and gaming. The 33W fast charging feature allows the device to go from 0% to 100% in about 45 minutes, making it convenient for users on the go.
In comparison, both the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Oppo Reno 12 F 4G have similar battery capacities, though Oppo offers a faster 45W charging speed, recharging quicker than the Tecno Camon 30S. However, the Camon 30S holds its ground well with long-lasting power and reasonably fast charging.
Software and User Interface
Running on Android 14 with Tecno’s HIOS 14, the Camon 30S offers an intuitive interface with various customization options and privacy features. Android 14 introduces smoother animations and privacy controls, providing a streamlined user experience.

Oppo’s ColorOS 14 and Samsung’s One UI 6.1 bring their own unique features and user-friendly interfaces. While both Samsung and Oppo offer a slightly more polished software experience, the Tecno Camon 30S’s HIOS 14 remains functional and straightforward, especially for users who prefer a clean Android experience.
Storage Options
Tecno Camon 30S is available with storage variants of 128GB with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB with 8GB RAM. The storage options are sufficient for most users’ needs, with enough room for apps, media, and documents. Unfortunately, the Camon 30S does not specify expandable storage, which is a drawback for users who need more space.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G offers a microSD card slot for expandable storage, providing added flexibility. Oppo Reno 12 F 4G also offers expandable storage, making it a preferable option for users who need extensive storage capacity.

Tecno Camon 30 Pro Review: Style Meets Substance
The Camon lineup from Tecno has always been geared as premium mid-range devices that bring a mix of style and performance. Last year, the 20 Pro turned heads with its marbled back design and sleek front. This year, the updated Tecno Camon 30 Pro has been launched. It brings refinement and performance enhancement over the last generation while compromising on certain aspects. Let’s have a detailed look.
Key Specs of Tecno Camon 30 Pro
Design and Build Quality
The design of the Camon 30 Pro can be best described as a mix of sci-fi and traditional. The glass front and chromed plastic frame are coupled with either glass or eco-leather back. The eco-leather back has a unique texture which Tecno likens to a lotus leaf. The glass back variant on the other hand has a volcanic stone-like texture.
The dimension of the device comes in at 164 mm by 74.5 mm by 7.7 mm with 188.6 g of effective weight. There’s a distinct red dot beside the metal camera ring which Tecno calls their “Breathing Light”. It essentially works like the glyph interface of Nothing Phone where it lights up for notifications, incoming calls, and video recording.

Ports and buttons are in their usual spot on the 30 Pro. However, the headphone jack and the expandable storage slot have been axed on the new model. The lack of an IP rating is also contentious but other than that, the 30 Pro brings a lot of positives in terms of design and build quality.
The Display
The display on the Tecno Camon 30 Pro is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate. The well-rounded panel comes with 1080 by 2436 pixels resolution and 393 ppi density. the screen to body ratio on the device is 89.9% screen-to-body ratio which is standard for a premium mid-range smartphone. The test shows that the minimal and maximal brightness of the panel is 2.2 nits and 534 nits respectively.
The display may pale in comparison with the 30 Premier’s 1260P OLED panel, but it does a decent job with what's at hand. The colors look vivid with a hint of a warm tone. The viewing angles are also pretty good without any noticeable color shift. Whatever the panel lacks in terms of resolution is swiftly covered by the fast refresh rate.

The Camera
There’s a triple camera sensor on the Camon 30 Pro. The main sensor is a 50 MP f/1.9, 23mm wide-angle shooter with PDAF and OIS. The other two sensors are a 50 MP, f/2.2, 14mm, 114˚ ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front features a 50 MP, f/2.5, 24mm wide-angle shooter.
In terms of performance, the 30 Pro is on par with the higher-end 30 Premier owing to the sensor used on both devices. Photos taken in daylight came out well detailed with good color balance and strong dynamic range. The same holds for the ultrawide sensor albeit the color may seem a bit muted. The front camera also performed well thanks to the appended resolution.
The nighttime photos had good exposure and details. Other than some lens flares, the photos came out well enough for its price.

The videography on the Camon 30 pro is rated at 4K at 30/60fps (HDR enabled), and 1080P at 30fps.

The chip design comprises 1x3.1 GHz Cortex-A78 & 3x3.0 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 with Mali-G610 MC6 GPU.
The Tecno Camon 30 Pro comes in 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB variants.

The gaming performance on the device has been on par with flagship-grade devices. games like PUBG and COD ran on ultra-graphics and frame rates. Software
The Camon 30 Pro is running on HiOS 14 based on Android 14. It’s the same old HiOS as last year with a fair share of bloatware. The Dynamic Port 2.0 is also back, which is Tecno’s version of Apple’s Dynamic Island.

Official Price of Tecno Camon 30 Pro
The Tecno Camon 30 Pro 12/512 GB variant is available at 400 USD or 46,998 BDT (1 USD =117.50 BDT).
Verdict
The Tecno Camon 30 Pro with its innovative design and flaring additions makes an impressive and stylish offering. It shares a very close, almost the same DNA with a slightly higher-priced Camon 30 Premier. But for its price, the 30 Pro brings great design, display, camera, and battery life.
The processing power is also on par for an upper-midranger. The only gripe is the bloatware-heavy HiOS on the device. On paper and in performance, the 30 Pro outshines competitors like the Samsung Galaxy A55 in a similar price range. In terms of target demographic, this is a device best suited for those looking for a stylish phone with a good camera and decent performance at a mid-range price.

TECNO CAMON 20 Review: Is it worth buying?
TECNO Mobile's dedication to delivering cost-effective devices while upholding impeccable quality has made them a favored choice among consumers. TECNO’s latest innovation Camon 20 has made its debut in Bangladesh recently. This smartphone boasts remarkable MediaTek chipsets and RGBW camera sensors. Let's take a look into the prime features, design, price, pros and cons of the TECNO Camon 20 phone.
Key features of the TECNO CAMON 20
Design
The Tecno Camon 20 showcases a distinct design that aligns with contemporary Android smartphones. Marketed as a puzzle deconstruction design, the handset draws inspiration from postmodern architecture. It features a textured leather back adorned with a unique pattern and a noticeable pentagon-shaped camera module. Despite the smartphone's plastic frame, this design choice effectively conceals fingerprints and smudges while exuding a luxurious aesthetic.
The device boasts flat edges rather than curved ones, enhancing comfort and grip during usage. You'll find the volume rocker and power button on the phone's right spine, while the bottom edge houses a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a speaker grille. Additionally, another speaker is located on the top edge, providing stereo sound output. Display

This display offers a vivid viewing experience, perfect for activities like video watching, social media browsing, and gaming. With an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 87.0%, the display covers almost the entire front of the phone, leaving only a small punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
The Camon 20's 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display delivers vibrant and immersive visuals. It incorporates a 100% wide P3 Dot-in display, along with DC Dimming and 1920Hz PWM Dimming, providing users with a flicker-free viewing experience. Tecno Camon 20 Pro Review: Can it fulfill the users’ expectations?
Tecno Smartphones has long been an outlier in the smartphone industry for its interesting approach to the market. While most brands focus on a mix of cost-cutting and functionality in their budget-friendly devices, Tecno Mobile aims to integrate an all-around premium experience under affordable price-ranges. In this legacy, Tecno has launched the Camon 20 Pro in Bangladesh recently. The device being a direct successor to the Camon 19 Pro brings a host of new features. Let’s find out the main features, pros, cons and price of Tecno Camon 20 Pro.
Key Specifications of Tecno Camon 20 Pro
Design and Build Quality
There has been a complete design overhaul of the Camon 20 Pro from its predecessor. While the 19 Pro had a much more toned-down traditional look, the 20 Pro feels like something straight out of Sci-Fi.
The camera module on the back is housed on a pentagonal base which is flush with the back panel. But that’s not all as the entire back panel now has a refractive geometric pattern which gives the device a contemporary abstract art-like look. It’s pretty obvious that Tecno meant this device to be used with the included clear case only.
Moving over to build quality, the device is an all-plastic build with a glass front. The display glass isn’t rated but it is supposed to be some older Gorilla Glass tech. The device has a 163.4 x 76.7 x 8.2 mm dimension which brings the weight to about 182 gm. It feels great in hand due to its uniform weight distribution and boxy design.
Read more: Top 10 Smartphones Coming to Bangladesh in July 2023
The volume rocker along with the power button is situated on the right of the device. The left side houses the micro SDXC and sim slot with the secondary mic on top. The primary speaker, Type C port, and the precious headphone jack are placed at the bottom. This year, the naming of the colorways has also been updated with Predawn Black and Serenity Blue.
Overall, the design took a long leap with the 20 Pro while the build quality remains satisfactory just like the 19 Pro.
The Display
For a lower mid-range device, the display spec of the Camon 20 Pro is quite surprising. Tecno managed to integrate the uniform bezel design for the Camon 20 Pro which until very recently was only seen on iPhones and high-end Androids.
The display itself is a 6.67 inches FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It’s a big jump considering the 19 Pro came with an IPS LCD panel. The uniform bezel design means the device now has an 85.7% screen-to-body ratio which is one of the highest in the Camon lineup.
Read more: vivo Y36 Review: Does Price Meet Performance?
The 1080P panel has a 395 ppi density making it a sharp and crisp display for all kinds of viewing situations. The stacked spec of the display doesn’t really translate much beyond paper. However, the viewing angles and everything are satisfactory. It's just that the colors on the display look a bit washed out and pale for an AMOLED panel. Users can tweak the display setting to opt for a warmer contrast. But out of the box, the experience might be lacking a bit.
The Camera
The Camon 20 Pro features a triple camera module set on two large circular housings. The top one houses the main 64 MP camera while the bottom one houses the 2 MP depth and a QVGA sensor. There is also the trademark ring LED flashlight right beside the sensors.
In essence, the main camera does all of the work as the depth and QVGA are good as nothing. In daylight, the pictures come out great with excellent details and good dynamic range occasionally. Users might notice exposure issues as the camera tries to process too much light in extremely bright outdoor shots. The issue is also persistent indoors as it overcompensates for low lights in this case.
The videography is rated at 1080P at 30fps but without any kind of stabilization support, it really isn’t worth shooting unless you have an external gimbal.

The front camera is a 32 MP shooter which does a decent job at capturing selfies. Overall, the camera experience on the Camon 20 Pro is average as there are better camera phones at this budget point.

Tecno Camon 19 Neo Review: Know its advantages, disadvantages
The story of Tecno is relatively new. The company was founded back in 2006. Over the last decade, the company has slowly established itself as a strong player in the budget and entry mid-range segment. The brand had widespread success in Africa followed by India and the rest of the sub-continent. The company also found prominence in Bangladesh with its budget and mid-range devices. Their latest mid-range offering, the Tecno Camon 19 Neo was launched on 14th June in Bangladesh. Here’s a detailed review of the price and key specs of the same.
Key Features of Tecno Camon 19 Neo
Design and Build Quality
Budget and mid-range devices are prone to frequent design changes. These changes are often a hit or miss with some working and others not. Tecno has completely overhauled the Camon 19 Neo from its predecessor, the Camon 18. While the previous model has a frosted singular back, the 19 Neo features a geometric color-shifting frost which definitely catches the eye. Be it indoors or outdoors, the light reflected on each of the indices brings out a unique look every time.
The changes aren’t just limited to the back. The camera module also had a complete revamp. The triple camera setup is positioned uniquely with one lens serving as the housing for two sensors.
Read OnePlus Nord CE2 Lite 5G Review: Know its Pros, Cons
The dual large lens along with the overall boxy shape gives a very iPhone-like look to the device. But being mid-range, the entire device is made from plastic both on the back and the frame. The ports and button selection are all as usual with the power button acting as the physical fingerprint sensor. The 3.5 mm headphone jack also survives with no sign of disappearing from the mid-range segment.
Overall, Tecno definitely got the design elements right with the Camon 19 Neo as it brings noticeable changes over the previous generation.
Display
The display of the Tecno Camon 19 Neo is an IPS LCD one. Devices like Samsung A03 Core, Redmi 10 2022, and Realme 9i all provide AMOLED panels within the same budget range. So, it’s a bit disappointing to see an LCD panel on a mid-range device.

The 6.8-inch large display comes with FHD+ resolution which is a saving grace for the device. The colors are generally vivid but the display doesn’t get very bright under direct sunlight. The blacks also don’t look as deep as AMOLED panels. Viewing angles are good so props for that. Overall, the display is passable at best. It's nothing stellar to be the main selling point for the device.
Camera
The triple camera setup on the Tecno Camon 19 Neo has a 48 MP main sensor with f/1.8 and a 26 mm wide lens. The other two accompanying sensors are a 2 MP depth sensor and a QVGA sensor. Needless to say, this is ultimately going to be a single sensor camera setup as the depth and QVGA sensors are basically useless.
The main camera with its 48 MP resolution does a decent job. Pictures look bright and sharp in outdoor and well-lit environments. There is a built-in portrait mode but the edge detection still isn’t up to the standard. It sometimes catches the edges perfectly but completely fails in others. The camera also fares well in dimly-lit conditions. But it does suffer from occasional underexposure.

The videography is limited to 1080P at 30 fps. While the sensor itself is capable of pushing the higher resolution, it gets limited due to the chipset.
There is also a 32 MP selfie shooter. Images looked great from the front camera but it definitely lacked the wide-angle view.
Processor and Performance
The Tecno Camon 19 Neo comes equipped with a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It’s a 12 Nm processor built on octa-core 2 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 design. The G85 isn’t exactly an upper mid-range processor as it's more geared towards entry-level mid-range devices. For its price, Tecno could’ve at least gone for the G88 processor.

The Camon 19 Neo isn’t a performance-oriented phone. It’s perfect for light usage like browsing social media, the web, or watching YouTube. The processor can also handle lightweight games and graphics-intensive games at a moderate setup. We ran PUBG on the device and it performed well in low to middle graphics settings. But it also caused the device to significantly heat up.
But typical users shouldn’t worry as the device does a great job at heat management. The device also performs smoothly thanks to the RAM fusion option. In addition to the 6GB onboard RAM, users will be able to harness an extra 5GB of memory from the ROM taking the effective RAM count to 11 GB when necessary.
Like all other Tecno phones, users will be getting the HIOS 8.6 based on Android 12. Tecno still needs to address the bloatware issue to make it a smoother experience. while out of the box the device is smooth, but it will eventually slow down owing to the heavy skin on top of it.

Battery and Charge Time
The Tecno Camon 19 Neo comes with a 5000 mAh battery. The efficient design of the G85 will allow for 6 to 7 hours of continued usage on a single full charge. Tecno has also included an 18W fast charger which can top up the device in just over an hour.
Price of Tecno Camon 19 Neo
The Tecno Camon 19 Neo is officially available in Bangladesh in the 6GB/128GB variant. The price of the device is 18,490 BDT as of release.
Final Thoughts
The Tecno Camon 19 Neo is yet another Tecno device that has its fair share of drawbacks. Firstly, there are better specification mid-range devices in this price range. Devices that offer better features. Secondly, Tecno is still struggling with its camera performance and bloated OS. On the flip side, the brand did a great job with the design, build quality, and processor of the 19 Neo. It's definitely a step in the right direction, but Tecno has to do more to stay competitive in the mid-range market.
