Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico City launches e-passport services
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Mexico City has marked a significant milestone with the launch of e-passport services, transforming travel security and convenience for Bangladeshi citizens.
With e-passport services now fully operational from Sunday, Bangladeshi nationals in Mexico, along with those in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, and other Latin American countries, can enjoy enhanced services, faster processing, and a more seamless travel experience, said the Embassy on Monday.
This initiative underscores the collaboration between the government of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and key stakeholders.
Bangladesh Ambassador Abida Islam inaugurated the initiative, highlighting its role in modernizing national travel infrastructure and meeting global standards.
The event was attended by members of the Bangladeshi community, and dignitaries from Bangladesh and Mexico.
The Embassy in Mexico City is now the 52nd Bangladeshi mission to introduce e-passport services, advancing the government’s efforts to digitize and enhance efficiency.
The e-passport system ensures advanced security, faster immigration processing, and a seamless travel experience aligned with international standards.

The event featured a documentary detailing the evolution of the e-passport system and remarks from prominent members of Bangladeshi community, including Arifuzzaman Kabir (Ericsson), Aktaruzzaman (Japan-Bangladesh Tobacco Limited), Azad Hossain (restaurateur), and Shamsul Alam Khan Chowdhury (Grameen Carso).
Their reflections underscored the initiative’s potential to enhance global mobility and strengthen community ties.
Khalil Ahmed, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dhaka, and technical perspectives from Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Project Director, Department of Passport and Immigration, Dhaka, also spoke highlighting the system's implementation and long-term vision.

The event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative crest to Ambassador Abida Islam, followed by the ribbon-cutting of the e-passport facility and the symbolic handover of e-passport delivery receipts to two Bangladeshi nationals in Mexico City.

Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Homecoming Day was observed in Tokyo with due fervor and solemnity.
On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organized at the embassy this morning.
Officials of the embassy, led by Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed, laid floral wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A minute's silence was observed in the memory of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
Later, a special prayer was offered for the eternal peace of the souls of the Father of the Nation and the martyred members of his family, as well as for the welfare of the country and the nation.
Then the messages given by the President and the Prime Minister on Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day were read out.
Brazil congratulates PM Hasina, willing to continue deepening ties with Bangladesh
During the discussion, Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmad humbly recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the history of the nation's struggle for freedom.
He said that Bangladesh was born through the long movement and Liberation War led by the Father of the Nation.
The ambassador said that although victory was achieved on December 16, 1971, it was completed only after the return of the Father of the Nation on January 10, 1972.
Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed in Brunei
He called upon all to work towards the implementation of Vision 2041, announced by the Prime Minister, to take the country forward on the path of progress and prosperity by completing the unfinished work of Bangabandhu.
A documentary on Bangabandhu's homecoming was screened after the discussion.

National Immigrants Day 2023 celebrated in Japan
National Migrants Day 2023 was celebrated with due importance and significance at Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo.
As part of the celebration of the day, a discussion meeting was organized today (Saturday)at the embassy with the participation of representatives of staff-sending organizations, owners and representatives of remittance houses, technical interns working in Japan, specified skilled workers and part-time workers on student visas.
At the beginning of the discussion program, the messages given by the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Affairs on the occasion were read out.
Reception Lounge set up at Dhaka Airport for int'l observers, journalists
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, Shahabuddin Ahmad, in his welcome speech, said that the population of the country has become a public resource today due to the proper actions and management of the government and a large number of Bangladeshis are working with reputation in more than 170 countries of the world.
The ambassador thanked the remittance fighters for their important contribution to the economy of Bangladesh and urged all the Bangladeshis living in Japan to work with more patriotism, devotion and honesty for the development and reputation of the country.
He said, in view of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day, there are several Bangladeshi expatriates in Japan have been honored as CIP (Non-Resident Bangladeshis) this year.

First Secretary (Labor) Md Joynal Abedin gave a power point presentation highlighting the importance and significance of sending remittances through legal channels and joining the universal pension system, the various facilities provided by the government for migrants and the special potential of employing Bangladeshi manpower in Japan.
Later, the visiting guests participated in an open discussion and expressed their commitment to work together on various aspects of sending remittances through legal channels and employing more Bangladeshi manpower in Japan in the current situation. On behalf of Bangladesh Embassy, they are assured to provide all kinds of cooperation in this work.
India wants to see peaceful election in Bangladesh
Two Distinguished Expatriate (CIP) Bangladeshis were honored at the program. At the end of the program, ten expatriates joined the Universal Pension System and Wage Earners Welfare Board through the One Stop Desk of the Bangladesh Embassy.
Embassy officials were present on the occasion.

Bangladesh embassy in Rome awards top remittance senders
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Rome, Italy has honoured five expatriate Bangladeshi nationals with ‘Remittance Award’ on the occasion of International Migrants Day-2022.
The embassy organized an event on December 19 at the Chancery.
Five Bangladeshis received awards as top remittance senders from Italy between the period of July 2021 and June 2022.
Md. Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy, handed over the awards among the recipients.
The programme included, among others, reading out of the messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and the Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, discussion meeting and distribution of certificates and crests.

At the beginning of the discussion session, Ashif Anam Siddique, First Secretary (Labor welfare) of the Embassy, made a power-point presentation on the various activities undertaken by the government of Bangladesh for the protection of the rights of expatriates for their welfare and to encourage more remittance through legal channels and also on the role of the embassy in this regard.
The awardees, who joined in person as well as digitally, also spoke and sincerely thanked the embassy for the recognition.
Ambassador Ahsan warmly congratulated all the awardees while acknowledging the significant contribution being made by the Bangladeshi diaspora for the buoyancy of the economy of the country by sending valuable remittances.
The ambassador said that establishment of diplomatic relations immediately after the independence by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman paved the way for sending workers abroad.
Ahsan paid deep tribute to Bangabandhu while adding that the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is an expatriate-friendly government and highlighted the major steps taken by the government.
Ahsan pointedly mentioned that the Government of Bangladesh remains committed in favour of legal migration. Among the guests were Laurence Hart, Director, International Organization of Migration (IOM) and Giovanni Imbergamo, Director, Janata Exchange (JEC) Srl.

both shared the global perspective of the day while appreciating the Government of Bangladesh for its role for the welfare of the expatriates and contribution of the migrants of the country.
The awardees of 2022 in 'individual category (male)' are Mohammad Jahangir Farazy, Md Mahfujul Haque, Uddin Zia, and in 'individual category (female) are Akhy Agnes Gomes and Mehenas Tabbasum.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome launched the "Remittance Award" in 2019 to encourage and promote remittances to Bangladesh through legal channels.
Officials of the mission, awardees and their family members, journalists from the diaspora were present at the event.

'Hasina: A Daughter's Tale' screened in Greece
The Bangladesh Embassy in Athens, in cooperation with the first multilingual library in Greece, has hosted a screening of the documentary film "Hasina: A Daughter's Tale."
Held at the "We Need Books" library premises Sunday, the screening was attended by a good number of Bangladeshis, students, embassy officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and the local civil society.
The maiden screening of the docudrama in a country like Greece, the cradle of ancient and western civilisation, created a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity among the audience about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members and their role in the making of a modern, democratic, secular, and developing nation, said a media statement.
They were particularly amazed to see how Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, had tried to cope with her most struggling time along with her only other surviving sister Sheikh Rehana following the brutal assassination of their father and all other members of their family.
The screening of the film was preceded by a short welcoming speech by the founder of the multilingual library Ioanna Nissiriou.
Bangladesh Ambassador Ashud Ahmed thanked the viewers for joining the screening of the documentary film organised as part of the Embassy's ongoing celebrations of the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh.
He mentioned his embassy's plan to organise more such screenings in different corners of Greece in the coming days.
Ambassador Ashud hoped that Bangladesh would become a real Golden Bengal that would have prosperity, modernity, inclusivity, democracy and secularism as designed in Vision 2041 under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh mission's mobile consular camp in Dallas sees big turnout
The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC recently held a mobile consular camp in Texas' Dallas with the support of the Bangladesh Association of North Texas and the Bangladeshi Expatriate Society of Texas.
During June 10-12, around 897 people received services and the government earned $47,932.50 as revenue.
The consular team was led by Counsellor Arifa Rahman Ruma and First Secretary Muhammad Abdul Hye Milton.
It was the highest turnout and revenue earning in any mobile consular camp organised this year, according to a media statement.
At the mobile consular camps, services like the issuance of no visa required (NVR) for travel to Bangladesh, the execution of the power of attorney and attestation are delivered instantly.
Also, the applications for dual nationality certificate (DNC) and birth registration certificate (BRC) are received for further processing.

Salman invites Saudi cos to invest in Bangladesh
Prime Minister's private industry and investment affairs adviser Salman F Rahman has invited Saudi firms to invest in Bangladesh, promising to set up a special economic zone (SEZ) for investors from the Kingdom.
During a discussion on Saudi-Bangladesh trade and investment, organised by the Bangladesh Embassy at Marriott Hotel in Riyadh on Monday night, Salman spelt out the steps taken by the Sheikh Hasina government to attract foreign investment.

He also offered to set up the SEZ for Saudi investors, as promised by the PM. "All facilities have been ensured for foreign investors," he said.
"Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The government is working to make Bangladesh a high-income country by 2041 with the aim of building Bangabandhu's ‘Shonar Bangla’," Salman added.
Highlighting the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh's Ambassador in Riyadh Md Jabed Patwari BPM said that the economic ties between the two countries would be further enhanced in the days to come.

Executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Sirajul Islam, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Sheikh Yusuf Harun, and CEO of the Bangladesh Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) Sultana Afroz also spoke about the economic development and investment facilities in Bangladesh.
The meeting was also attended by various renowned businessmen, chamber representatives, investors and local Bangladeshi businessmen from Saudi Arabia.

Turkey issues postage stamp on Bangabandhu
The Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara has unveiled a special postage stamp to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Turkey.
The Turkish Postal Department released the special postage stamp with the image of Bangabandhu on Tuesday noon.

This stamp was, in fact, unveiled at a special meeting between Bangladesh Ambassador Mosud Mannan NDC and Director General of the Cultural Wing of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Deniz Chakar, the Bangladesh Embassy said in a release.
The relations between the two countries would be further strengthened with the release of the stamp with photographs in the memory of Bangabandhu, according to Director General of the Cultural Wing of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Deniz Chakar.
Paying deep tribute to Bangabandhu, the Ambassador said that the Father of the Nation "is a tangible symbol of democracy, peace and secularism in Bangladesh and in the international arena".

Bangabandhu was a pioneer of humanity, people's power and socio-economic liberation, said the ambassador.

Bangladesh joins Import Goods Fair-2021 in Seoul
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul has participated in the 18th Import Goods Fair (IGF) held at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) in Seoul.
Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) organizes the fair annually to showcase the new products imported from the partner countries.

This year, Embassies from 40 countries joined the fair along with 22 companies from different countries. The fair ended on July 24.
Chairman of KOIMA Mr Hong Kwang-hee, and Director General of Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) Young-tae Choi inaugurated the IGF 2021 on 22 July in presence of the Ambassadors and representatives from the Embassies of the participating countries.
After the inauguration, Ambassador Abida Islam invited the Chairman of KOIMA, Director General of MOTIE, and other Ambassadors to the Bangladesh stall and presented them with traditional handicrafts.

During the fair, export items from Bangladesh, received with the complements of the Export Promotion Bureau, were displayed which includes RMG products, jute and leather products, ceramic items, and handicrafts like brass items and traditional dolls.
Korean businessmen showed their keen interest in the leather items and ceramic products of Bangladesh.
Organic food items from Fargo like mixed nuts, honey, moringa tea, and ghee (clarified butter) also attracted the dignitaries and visitors. Due to social distancing, the audience was comparatively less this year but around 100 visitors visited the Bangladesh stall during this three-day event.

The Bangladesh Embassy continues to play a positive role in attracting Korean traders and buyers to Bangladeshi products by participating in this Fair which is playing a positive role in further strengthening bilateral trade and commercial relations between the two countries.
However, the participation of small and medium-size enterprises of Bangladesh in this fair in the future is expected to play a more effective role in furthering the bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Korea.
