BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said ensuring proper treatment of ‘seriously’ ill Khaleda Zia is gradually getting harder in Bangladesh as her health condition turned critical.

The Appellate Division on Sunday upheld the High Court Division order that stayed trial proceedings in four more cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was released on Wednesday from jail for six months suspending her sentences following an executive order over 25 months after she had been convicted and sent to jail in graft cases.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to be released from jail shortly as all the necessary procedures in this regard have already been completed.   

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be released from jail for six months suspending her sentences upon two conditions, said Law Minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday said the family’s appeal to temporarily release BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail was sent to the Law Ministry for its legal opinion.

Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam on Saturday urged the government to release the BNP chairperson on humanitarian ground as she is sick.
