Body of newlywed woman recovered from husband’s Pallabi residence
The body of a newlywed woman was recovered from her residence in Pallabi area of Dhaka on Sunday (March 03, 2024) evening.
The deceased was identified as Mahfuza Motaleb, wife of Aminul Islam.
Pallabi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurbo Hasan said Aminul and Mahfuza got married around three months back.

Quoting Mahfuza’s family, the OC said Aminul used to torture Mahfuza demanding dowry since their marriage as his mother-in-law has an FDR of Tk 7 lakh.
On Sunday evening, Aminul phoned Mahfuza’ family asking to come to his residence as she fell sick. When they reached their home they found her dead.
On information, a police team recovered the body from the house and sent to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police officer said.
Police, however, arrested the husband in this connection and Mahfuza’s family filed a case.

Newlywed couple electrocuted in Keraniganj
A newlywed couple died after being electrocuted at their house in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka early Thursday.
The couple — Ismail, 20, and his wife Kajal Akter, 18 — were residents of Atibazar Sumon Housing area under the upazila.

Mamunur Or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said the couple used to live in a rented house.
Kajal got electrocuted when she touched a switch with a wet hand around 12 am, he said.

Her husband Ismail was electrocuted when he tried to save his wife — leaving the duo critically injured, the OC said.
The couple was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries around 2 am, the police officer said.

Hanging body of newlywed recovered in Chattogram
The body of a housewife was recovered from her bedroom just six months into her marriage in Roazan upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mojaheda Mina, 18, daughter of Nuru Huda of Pachkhain Majipara under the upazila.

Locals said one Mohammad Harun, a resident of Chader Dighipar area of the same upazila, married Mina with their families' approval around six months back.
Mina’s father however alleged that Mina was subjected to mental torture by her husband's six sisters ever since. He also said they must have killed her in a planned way.
Mohammad Ismail, sub inspector (SI) of Purbo Gujra Police Investigation Centre under the upazila, said on information they recovered the body hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom with her scarf around noon.
The reason for the death will be ascertained following autopsy as the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue, added the SI.
