BASIS SoftExpo 2023 begins February 23
The four-day BASIS SoftExpo 2023 will begin on February 23 at Bangabandhu Bangladesh China Friendship Exhibition Center in the capital's Purbachal.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is organising the exhibition to showcase the latest technology innovations and ICT capabilities of Bangladesh to the world.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between BASIS and Huawei recently in this connection.
BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed said: "We are now moving towards achieving the Smart Bangladesh goal. We are hopeful that BASIS SoftExpo 2023 will play a significant role in achieving this goal and take Bangladesh a step ahead in digitalisation."
"Huawei has achieved the leading position in the ICT field worldwide. We are delighted to partner with them."
Alex Li, vice-president of Cloud Business Group of Huawei South Asia, said: "Huawei will stand with Bangladesh in achieving the Smart Bangladesh goal as it did in fulfilling the dream of Digital Bangladesh. We have partnered with BASIS with the same vision and we will showcase our latest software and solutions at this SoftExpo."
Besides the inaugurating and closing events of BASIS SoftExpo 2023, there will be some special programs such as B2B matchmaking, ambassadors' night, outsourcing conference, startup conference, developers' conference, ministerial conference, ICT career camp/youth program, women in IT program and Japan Day program.
More than 800 corporate executives are expected to attend the "Business Leaders Meet." Also, more than 23 seminars and technical sessions will be held.
About three lakh visitors including government and private policymakers, about 200 national and international speakers, IT experts, IT sector businessmen, foreign delegations, domestic and foreign IT users and interested young students are expected to visit BASIS SoftExpo 2023.

7th international electric expo begins on March 9 in Dhaka
The three-day ‘7th International Electric Expo Bangladesh 2023’ is going to be held in Dhaka in order to increase the export of international quality electrical products produced in the country.
Bangladesh Electrical Merchandise Manufacturers Association (BEMMA) and WEM Bangladesh Limited are jointly organizing the fair will begin at International Convention Center Bashundhara on March 9 and will continue till March 11.
A total of 120 stalls of 150 brands, 40 foreign representatives, and 80 exhibitors will participate in the fair.

Mohammad Aftab Jabed, President of Bangladesh Electrical Merchandise Manufacturers Association, revealed this in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Monday on the occasion of the Expo.

Bangladesh International Travel and Tourism Expo draws to close
The first Bangladesh International Travel and Tourism Expo that started Thursday to boost the country's tourism industry and showcase it to global tourists drew to a close Saturday at a Dhaka hotel.
The Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) organised the three-day expo at Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
According to organisers, airlines, hospitals, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, resorts and other travel and tourism-related service organisations of more than 15 countries including India, Malaysia, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Oman, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, and the UAE, joined the expo.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was present as the chief guest and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen as the special guest at the closing ceremony.
Francisco de Asís Benítez Salas, ambassador of Spain, Ito Naoki, ambassador of Japan, Haznah Md Hashim, high commissioner of Malaysia, Pham Viet Chien, ambassador of Vietnam, Ghanshyam Bhandari, ambassador of Nepal, were also present.
At the event, the industries minister announced that the Bangladesh International Travel and Tourism Expo 2023 will be held from December 1 to 3.

4-day int’l expo on textile technologies to begin in city from Aug 31
An international expo on textile technologies is going to be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka from August 31 to September 3.
CEMS-Global USA, an event management firm, is organising the four-day exhibition titled: "21st Textech Bangladesh International Expo 2022".
Meherun N. Islam, president and managing director of CEMS Global, announced the event’s details at a press conference held at the ERF auditorium in the city on Tuesday.
Meherun said the proposed event was supposed to be held in 2020. But it could not be held due to the global pandemic of Covid-19. Instead, a virtual edition of the expo was held in 2021.
She informed that two more associated exhibitions will be held alongside the main expo at the same venue.

The two associated exhibitions are titled "18th Dhaka International Yarn & Fabric Show 2022-Summer Edition" and "40th Dye+Chem Bangladesh 2022 International Expo".
CEMS Bangladesh, a subsidiary body of CEMS-Global USA, will remain involved in the event management, she added.
She also said Jute & Textile Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi is expected to inaugurate the expo while Faruque Hassan, president of BGMEA, and Mohammad Hatem, executive president of the BKMEA, will attend the function.
The organisers said the expo will host more than 260 companies from 12 countries.
It will be a one-stop platform to showcase the latest developments and emerging technology for this industry.
‘Textech’ will offer a unique B2B networking opportunity for textile garment machinery manufacturers to interact face-to-face with the textile and apparel manufacturers on the biggest B2B platform in Bangladesh.
It will be the biggest meeting place for buyers and suppliers and will also provide an interactive platform for exhibitors to generate business through displays and direct interaction.
They said the manufacturers of textile machinery, embroidery machines, circular knitting machines, sewing related equipment, apparel accessory and trim machines, digital printing machines, and related service providers will have immense opportunity to showcase their technologies, including machinery and also services in the exhibition.
