SAFF Women's Champs: Bangladesh captain Sabina Khatun wins highest scorer, best player awards
Bangladesh captain cum most experienced footballer Sabina Khatun named as the best player and highest scorer of the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship concluded on Monday (Sept 19) at the Dasharath Stadium (Rangasala) in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. Bangladesh emerged as new champions with an all-win record in the regional women's soccer meet breaking the last 12 years domination of neighboring India, crushing hosts Nepal by 3-1 goals in the keenly contested final Monday evening.

Sabina Khatun led the Bangladesh team from the front scoring eight goals in five matches featuring two hattricks against Pakistan in group match and against Bhutan in the semifinal to win both the prestigious awards of best player and highest scorer. Bangladesh custodian Rupna Chakma, who displayed her brilliance under the bar, was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament.Bangladesh team, which clinched their dream SAFF Women's trophy in their 2nd attempt after 2016, was also adjudged the most disciplined team to receive the fair play trophy of the tournament.

Bangladesh, the finalist of 2016, smartly reached the final of the SAFF Women's Championship for the 2nd times with all-win record crushing Bhutan by 8-0 goals in the first semifinal last Friday while four times finalists Nepal booked a seat for the final eliminating the five times champions India in the 2nd semifinal on the same day.Earlier, Bangladesh qualified for the semifinal as the Group A champions with an all-win run securing full nine points from straight three matches beating the Maldives by 3-0 goals in the first match and outplaying Pakistan by 6-0 goals in the 2nd match, apart from their historic and first ever 3-0 victory against India.

SAFF Women's Champs: Bangladesh earns first-ever win against India
Bangladesh National Women's Football team made a history by achieving their first-ever victory against Indian National Women's team crushing their giant rival by 3-0 goal in the last Group A match of the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship' 2022 at the Dasharath Stadium (Rangasala) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
With the day's well-merited victory, Bangladesh emerged Group A champions to reach the semifinal with all-win record securing full nine points from straight three group encounters while India finished Group A runners up with six points from three encounters with two wins and one defeat.

In the semifinals on Friday (Sept 16), Bangladesh will play Group B runners-up Bhutan at 1:15 pm Bangladesh time while hosts Nepal will face India on the same day at 5:45 pm Bangladesh time at the same venue.
The final match will held on Sept 19.
Bangladesh clearly dominated the day's match by 2-0 goal in the first half.
Siraj Jahan Swapna struck twice, one in each half while Krishna Rani Sarkar netted the other goal in the first half.
Sirat Jahan Swapna put Bangladesh ahead in the 12th minute by a ground shot off a combined attack of Sabina and Krishna (1-0) while Krishna Rani Sarkar doubled the margin ten minutes later by an angular placing shot from small box, capitalizing on a Swapna pass (2-0).Siraj Jahan Swapna sealed the fate of the match scoring her 2nd goal in the 53rd minute by a brilliant placing shot (3-0).

SAFF Women's Champs: Bangladesh to start campaign against Maldives on Wednesday
)- Bangladesh Women's Football team, now in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu,
will start their campaign in the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship 2022 taking on the Maldives on Wednesday (Sept 7).
The match will kick-off at 5:45 pm Bangladesh time at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
Two archrival India and Pakistan will meet each other in Wednesday's other match at 1:15 pm.
Experienced booter Sabina Khatun will lead the Bangladesh women's side as captain while Maria Manda will assist her as vice-captain.
Earlier, Bangladesh team was placed in tough Group A along with five time champions India, the Maldives and Pakistan while comparatively easier Group B comprises hosts Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will face Pakistan on Sept 10 and meet India on Sept 13.
On completion of group matches, top two teams from each of the groups will play in the semifinals on Sept 16.
The final match will be held on Sept 19.
The morale of the youthful Bangladesh women's team is now higher than all previous occasions after winning the two- match series 1-0 against upper ranked Malaysia recently.
Bangladesh beat Malaysia 6-0 in the first match and settled for a draw in the 2nd match.

SAFF Women's Champs: Bangladesh hold second practice session in Kathmandu
The Bangladesh Women's Football team, now in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, practiced for the 2nd consecutive day today (Monday), ahead of the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship' 2022 beginning on Tuesday.
Hosts Nepal will play Bhutan in the opening day's lone match at 5:30 pm on Tuesday at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
Bangladesh team was placed in tough Group A, along with five times champions India, the Maldives and Pakistan while Group B team comprises hosts Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
Bangladesh will start their campaign taking on the Maldives on Wednesday (Sept 7) at 5:30 pm while two arch-rival India and Pakistan will meet each other in the day's other match at 1pm.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will face Pakistan on Sept 10 at 1pm and will meet India on Sept 13 at 5:30 pm.

SAFF Women's Champs: .Bangladesh team reaches Kathmandu
A 34-member Bangladesh Women's Football team reached Nepalese capital Kathmandu Saturday morning to compete in the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship' 2022 beginning on Tuesday.
Experienced booter Sabina Khatun accompanied the Bangladesh women's side as captain, Maria Manda as vice-captain and Zakir Hossian Chowdhury as the team leader.
All the players of Bangladesh team staying at Soaltee Kathmandu Hotel are now in sound health, said a BFF media release Saturday afternoon.

Bangladesh will make their first practice session on Sunday (Sept 4) at the Army headquarters ground in Kathmandu from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm (Bangladesh time).
