Netherlands beat South Africa for the first time across any format. Put in to bat first, the Dutch posted a respectable 158/4 off their 20 overs before restricting their opponents to 145/8. Colin Ackerman was adjudged man of the match for his innings of 41 off 26 balls that helped accelerate the Netherlands’ innings.
South Africa could have ensured qualification with a victory, but now ends on 5 points. It means whoever wins the game between Bangladesh and Pakistan, who are both on 4 points, will leapfrog them in the table to 6 points and qualify for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2022. In that perspective, the BAN vs PAK match at the Adelaide Oval has practically become a do-or-die contest, or, in other words, a knockout contest.
