Detective Branch (DB) of police on Monday submitted the final report before a Dhaka court clearing Amatullah Bushra of the murder charges in a case filed over the death of Buet student Fardin Noor Parash. DB Inspector Yasin Shikder, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. The case is scheduled for a hearing on February 14. Bushra was arrested from her Banasree home in Dhaka on November 10, 2022, after Fardin’s father filed a murder case naming Bushra as an accused and several unidentified people with Rampura Police Station following recovery of his son’s body from the Shitalakhkhya River on November 7. Also read: Fardin death: Probe report submission deferred to February 14 After a long 38-day investigation, the DB chief said on December 14 that Fardin roamed alone around different areas of Dhaka on the night of November 4 before he went missing. “Fardin was not murdered, he committed suicide by jumping into the river from Sultana Kamal Bridge on November 4 out of desperation,” he said. On January 8, Judge Tahsin Iftekhar of Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court-7 granted bail to Bushra in the case after hearing a bail petition. On January 10, she walked out of the Kashimpur Women's Central Jail, two months after her arrest. Fardin was a 3rd year student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s civil engineering department and a resident of Qutubpur area in Narayanganj's Fatullah. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Friday said that the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Detective Branch (DB) of police must have revealed the reason behind the death of Buet student Fardin Noor Parash after proper analysis. He said this in a response to reporters after paying homage at the Martyrs' Memorial of Rajarbagh Police Line in the capital marking of the Victory Day. Then he went to Sultana Kamal Bridge around 2:34 am on November 4. He was alone on the bridge till 2:37am, he said. “He didn’t know swimming and we believe that Fardin committed suicide by jumping off Sultana Kamal Bridge,” he said. However, Fardin’s father Kazi Nuruddin said that his son did not kill himself, he was murdered. Meanwhile, DB police will give a report to the court that Amatullah Bushra, a 3rd year student of East West University who is now in jail, has no connection with Fardin’s death, said DB chief on Thursday. Fardin Noor Parash did not kill himself, he was murdered, claimed his father on Kazi Nuruddin. “After the planned murder, now the drama of suicide is being staged,” he told reporters at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) media center on Minto Road of the capital. Expressing dissatisfaction over the investigation, Nuruddin said, “I will file no-confidence petition.” “My son had the capability of coping with all kinds of situation. Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Fardin Noor Parash died after jumping off Sultana Kamal Bridge, Rab has said. Commander Khandaker Al Moin, legal and media wing director of Rab, disclosed the information at a press conference at Rab headquarters around over one month after the body of the student was recovered from the Shitalakhkhya river on November 7. On November 4, the day he went missing, Fardin dropped off his girlfriend Amatullah Bushra, a 3rd year student of East West University who is now in jail, in Rampura around 9pm. After that he went to a bridge in Keraniganj and then to Johnson Road, Gulistan and Jatrabari respectively till 2am. Then he went to Sultana Kamal Bridge around 2:34 am. He was alone on the bridge till 2:37am, the Rab official said. Fardin jumped off the bridge after roaming around in Dhaka, the Rab  officer said, adding they scrutinized his whereabouts. The Rab officer said they tightened intelligence surveillance to figure out the reason behind the death. He said they submitted all relevant documents including CCTV footage and digital footprints to the investigation officer of the case on Wednesday. Additional Commissioner (Detective Branch) of DMP, Mohammad Harunur Rashid, has said that Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash was not killed in Narayanganj’s Chanpara. “We don’t think Fardin was killed in Chanpara. We’re going to analyse CCTV footage,” said Harun. The police officer said this while talking to journalists on Thursday noon. Harun informed that Fardin’s last tracked location was in Dhaka’s Jatrabari. “Fardin went inside a Laguna. He was accompanied by 3-4 men in t-shirts. The laguna went towards Tarabo Bishwa Road in Narayanganj. We’re looking for the driver of the laguna and the people who were accompanying Fardin,” he said. It’s not possible to reach Chanpara from Jatrabari within 15 minutes. That’s why we’re suspecting that the murder happened somewhere else,” added Harun. Additional Commissioner (Detective Branch) of DMP Mohammad Harunur Rashid has said police are suspecting that Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Fardin Noor Parash was killed somewhere in Dhaka. Harun said this while replying to a question at a press briefing held at the media center of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at the capital’s Minto Road on Saturday. “After analyzing Fardin’s mobile data and talking to the people with whom he had communicated before his death, we’re assuming that he might’ve been killed in Dhaka. We’ve also come to know that he had gone to Narayanganj. We can’t say anything concrete right now for the sake of the investigation,” Harun said.  Read: Fardin murder case transferred to DB Harun said police are not saying that Fardin was killed for drugs. “We (DB) never said that Fardin had died when he went to buy drugs in Narayanganj’s Chanpara. We haven’t detected yet what actually happened. We’re working on all the information we’ve received till now,” said Harun. Harun further said that police are yet to confirm whether Amatullah Bushra, the prime accused in the murder case filed by Fardin’s father, was involved in the killing or not. “We’ve arrested Bushra based on the case filed by Fardin’s father. We’re not saying that she (Bushra) had killed him (Fardin). We’re currently analyzing various information surrounding the case. We’ve taken Bushra into remand to know more about the matter,” Harun said.
