Bangladeshi man’s leg severed in landmine blast near border in Bandarban
A 35-year-old Bangladeshi man lost his leg in a landmine blast along the Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Tuesday.
The explosion took place around 8:00am along the zero line between border pillars 46 and 47 near Jaruliachhari Border Outpost (BOP), said Officer-in-Charge Md Masrul Haque of Naikhongchhari police station.
The victim was Md Tayeb, son of Saber Ahmed from Kombonia area in Naikhongchhari Union.
Locals said Tayeb had crossed into Myanmar with the intention of smuggling Bangladeshi goods.
While returning with cows and other items, a landmine planted by the Arakan Army went off in the zero line area, injuring him severely.

The lower part of his right leg below the knee was damaged.
Locals rescued him in a critical condition and took him to Naikhongchhari Upazila Health Complex.
OC Masrul Haque said Tayeb was referred to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment. “The matter is under investigation,” he added.

A Bangladeshi man has lost a leg in a landmine explosion along Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
The injured is Belal,38, son of Abdul Hakim of Kachhapia Union of Cox's Bazar.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Tariqul Islam said the explosion occurred when he drifted across the border to bring back his cows around 7am on Wednesday.
Locals took him to a Cox's Bazar Hospital for treatment, said Md. Shafiullah, chairman of Naikhanchari upazila.
On September 16, a Rohingya boy was killed and five others were injured as a mortar shell fired by Myanmar army exploded at Zero Point Rohingya Camp.
On the same day, another Bangladeshi youth was seriously injured in a landmine explosion along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.

Besides, another man lost a leg in a landmine explosion near the border with Myanmar along Naikhongchhari of Bandarban on October 5.
In the face of continuous gunfire and mortar shelling inside Myanmar close to the Bangladesh border local authorities evacuated 30 families from Dochari and Ghumdhum unions at Naikhongchhari on October 23.
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently summoned Myanmar envoy to Dhaka several times and formally protested against the move by the Buddhist-majority nation’s military.
