England comfortably beat Wales 3-0 in their third match and finished top in Group B of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Three Lions will meet the Group A runner-up, Senegal, on December 4 in their Round of 16 fixture. On the other hand, Wales were knocked out of the tournament after getting only 1 point in 3 matches.

Wales had no other option but to win this match, but they knew getting a result against England would be very tough. Wales appeared to set a target of not conceding any goals and attempted to go deep into the game. Their 4-4-2 formation tried to resist England's 4-2-3-1.

The three Lions, though aggressive from the beginning of the contest, constantly pushed the Wales defense and were very close to scoring on a number of occasions in the first half. Except for a few half-chances, Wales, on the other hand, were mostly busy taking care of their defense. The first half ended with a score of 0-0.
The way England constantly put pressure on the Wales defense, finding a net seemed imminent. It took only five minutes in the second half for England to get their first goal, as Manchester United's hitman Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for them with a sublime freekick. A minute later, Phil Foden scored the second goal for England after receiving a nice pass from Harry Kane.
After conceding two goals within a short period of time, Wales' dream of reaching the knockout round was all but over. Marcus Rashford then added his second goal of the night with a nice individual effort. Wales came close to scoring on a number of occasions but couldn't find the net eventually. England's boss, Gareth Southgate, was busy testing his squad's strength by changing players in the second half.

Wales' World Cup campaign didn't turn out as expected, finishing fourth in the points table of their group after losing to England in the last match.
