Dr S A Malek, Prof Faruq elected president, secy of Bangabandhu Parishad
Awami League’s Advisory Council member Dr SA Malek and Professor ABM Faroque were elected as President and General Secretary of the central committee of Bangabandhu Parishad on Wednesday.
The new central committee was formed at a meeting of the outgoing Bangabandhu Central Governing Council held at its Central Office in Kalabagan in the capital with Dr S A Malek, also former Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, a Member of Parliament and Freedom Fighter, in the chair.
Five newly elected Joint-General Secretaries are Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, Matiur Rahman Laltu, Prof Firoj Ahmed, Kazi Rehan Sobhan, and Abdul Matin Bhuiyan and eight Organizing Secretaries for eight divisions are Advocate MA Salam (Dhaka), Dr Liakat Ali Moral (Barishal), Mohammad Shahidullah (Sylhet), Dr. Iyubur Rahman (Chatragram), Engineer Mainul Rahman (Khulna), Luthfor Rahman (Rajshahi), Khandakar Nazrul Islam (Mymensingh and Mashiur Rahman (Rangpur).

Finance Secretary Jalal Uddin Tuhin, Information and Research Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Gaswami, and Information and Research Joint Secretary Mahamudul Haque, Legal Affairs Secretary Dr. Shahjahan Mandal, Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr. Tariqul Alam, Education and Human Resource Affairs Secretary Prof Syed Shamsuddin Ahmed, Women Affairs Secretary Dr. Purabi Rani Devnath, and Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Nesar Ahmed Bhuiyan are among other office bearers.

Besides, members of the committee include Prof Imran Kabir Chowdhury, Prof Dr Golam Sabbir Sattar, Prof Dr Dulal Chandra Biswas, Principal Abed Ali and Dr. Chandranath Paddar.
