Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Leaks & rumors so far
The S series from Samsung has invariably become the S-tier of smartphones, at least as far as androids are concerned. These smart-looking, elegantly designed, devices pack the latest and greatest technologies of Samsung. The leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S23 series have started grinding. What will it be like? Should you wait for the S23 ultra or pick an S22 up today? Let's take a look at what we know about the coming soon Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Leaks and Rumors of Galaxy S23 Ultra
The design from the S20 to S21 to S22 has been a whirlwind journey. With each flagship release, it felt like Samsung was out to reinvent its design statement. But that might be about to change with the Galaxy S23 series. We rounded up the expected specs and rumors into several segments.
Design
News coming from the Samsung design lab is that the Galaxy S23 series, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra, will mostly feature the same design as the S22 Ultra. The reason is that the boxy design has allowed Samsung to fit in the S-pen, a bigger battery, and a more evenly distributed ergonomics.

It seems like Samsung has perfected the design game with the S22 Ultra, and they plan to stick to it for the foreseeable future.
The S-pen would be reprised much to the relief of the fan of the stylus. The S-pen first made its way to the Ultra series after Samsung discontinued its famous Note series.
There won’t be many changes to the dimensions, and Samsung plans to stick with the S22 Ultra form factors. But the back might see some camera shuffling as Samsung plans to introduce a new main sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Display
Samsung has been the unrivaled king when it comes to displaying tech for several years now. And their abilities have been time and again showcased with their flagship devices. But for a couple of years now, the display tech has somewhat reached its saturation point.
There is the 4K display vying in the smartphone industry. But given the power consumption status of a 4K panel, it still won’t be a realistic choice.
So it's almost certain that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a slightly modified, bare incremental updated display over the S22 Ultra. A Dynamic AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and maybe a slightly increased HBM. Even though the current 1750 HBM is more than enough for even the brightest sunny days.

Camera Series
The camera is where most of the Samsung magic happens. And if you thought the S22 series took things to the next level, wait till the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung is reportedly working to include a 200 MP HP2 ISOCELL sensor made in-house by Samsung. Ice Universe claims that this is the biggest upgrade coming to the S series compared to the last 5 years.
The main sensor is expected to be 0.6-micron pixels with an f/1.7 aperture. The camera is touted to compete with the likes of the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pixel 7 Pro.
Even though the megapixel count is increasing, the sensor size won’t be that different from the existing one. It is expected to be slightly larger than the 48 MP one found on the iPhone 14 Pro but nowhere near the 1-inch sensor of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

The quality should be on par with the likes of Apple and Google flagships. Even camera tech is reaching a saturation point where it's becoming increasingly difficult to pinpoint the differences between the performance of the flagship devices.
Processor and Performance
There was an initial rumor that the Galaxy S23 Ultra might feature the revamped Exynos chipset from Samsung. But that rumor was quickly dismissed as Samsung will be staying fixed with the Qualcomm partnership.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature the next generation chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon Gen 2 chipset. The 8 Gen 2 will bring an incremental update over the 8 Gen 1, which was the first breakaway chip from the standard Qualcomm nomenclature.

But the chipset isn’t the only thing Qualcomm is providing here. Samsung will also be making use of the latest Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy S23 lineup. This specific fingerprint sensor is said to be 17 times larger than the existing one on the S22 series, making it even faster and more reliable in use.
Battery and Charging
The standard S22 Ultra featured a standard 5000 mAh battery with a 45 W fast charging. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S23 ultra might get a 5% battery increment in addition to the wired charging being bumped to 65 W. But we’ll have to wait on that information until more details arrive.
Expected Price of Samsung Galaxy Galaxy S23 Ultra
The S22 Ultra from Samsung debuted with an 1199 USD price tag. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is also expected to follow suit in that regard. They might also increase a bit given some significant changes in the camera department. But it should be around the initial S22 Ultra’s price point.
