Death toll from Gulshan fire rises to two
The death toll from Sunday’s fire at an apartment block in Gulshan-2 increased to two as another victim died on Monday morning.
Raju Mia Shikder, who sustained injuries during the fire incident, died at a hospital in the capital, said Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Abdul Ahad.

The fire that quickly tore through the apartment block Sunday (February 19, 2022) evening was brought under control after four hours.
Anwar Hossain, who used to work in the 12- storeyed building, was killed after the deadly fire engulfed it. Also, 22 people – nine men, 12 women, and one child –were rescued.
“The fire broke out on the seventh floor of a 12-storey building in Gulshan-2 at 6:59pm. However, the reasons for the fire mishap and the extent of damage could not immediately be confirmed," Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell, said.
