BAN vs IRE Series 2023
BAN vs IRE 2023 Test Preview: Analysis of Bangladesh Squad
After so many calculations, BCB announced a 14-man squad on Saturday for the only Test against Ireland. Though Shakib and Litton have been expecting to attend the IPL, they are selected as captain and vice-captain. Bangladesh vs Ireland test match will take place from April 4 to April 9 at Dhaka. Let’s take a look at the preview Bangladesh vs Ireland Test 2023.
Analysis of Bangladesh Test Squad Against Ireland
Ireland has played only three Tests since receiving Test status. The last match was almost three and a half years ago. Against teams that lag behind in strength and experience, there is an opportunity to experiment. There is also the matter of seeing someone playing outside the regular eleven. But Bangladesh Cricket Board is not walking that way as they have announced a squad with top players, including Shakib and Litton. According to selector Abdur Razzak, they want to get a big win against a small opponent. And that is why Bangladesh will play with full strength.
However, there are some changes in the Bangladesh squad. Yasir Ali Rabbi, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Nasum Ahmed, and Rejaur Rahman Raja have been dropped from the team that played against India. Also, Zakir Hasan, who scored a century in the Test debut, is out due to injury. Zakir's injury opened the luck for Sadman Islam. The left-handed opener returned to the national team after a year.

On the other hand, regular opener Tamim Iqbal, who could not play in the India vs Bangladesh series due to injury, has returned to the Test team. Pacers Ebadot Hossain and Shoriful Islam also returned to the team. Shoriful and Ebadat were not in the India series due to injuries. Both returned to the squad for the Ireland Test. Rejaur and Nasum, who are waiting for their Test debut, could not make it to the team because of Shoriful and Ebadat’s return.
The Irish could not give a big fight except winning the last T20 in Bangladesh this time. They did not get any chance at all in the ODI series. The same happened in the first two T20Is. The last match was only a consolation win. But that does not reduce the fear of doing well in the Test. That is why Bangladesh doesn’t want to take any risk, as this is the only Test.
Bangladesh Squad
Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Litton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy.

Players to Watch
Among these 14 players, fans are expecting more from a few players, such as Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mehidy Hassan Miraz.
Litton Das
Litton’s performance in the series against India did not live up to expectations. But he got good news after scoring a half-century in the last inning. The stylish batsman touched his career-best position in the ICC Test batsmen rankings, which is also the best in Bangladesh's 22-year Test history.
In the weekly update of the ICC rankings, Litton was at number 12 after the India series. He rose to twelfth place in March 2022. His ranking remained the same after finishing the Test against Sri Lanka in May at Mirpur. No other batsman from Bangladesh has ever climbed so high in the test ranking. Now he is at 14 with 702 ratings. So, it is expected that Litton will climb up in the test ranking again.

Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib contributed tremendously in the last test series against India. With the bat, he scored 87 runs but could not take any wickets in the first match. However, he performed well with balls in the second game, as he took 6 wickets.
However, he could not contribute well with bats in the second match. Shakib has had great form, as he proved in the England and Ireland series. And we can expect excellent performance in Test too. Currently, Shakib is at number 3 allrounder in the ICC Test ranking.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the highest wicket-taker for the Bangladesh team in 2022. Miraz took 31 wickets in Tests and played 8 matches. He gave 1030 runs off 2061 balls. Therefore, Miraz took 1 wicket in every 33 balls. He also did excellent in the most recent test series against India. He took 11 wickets against India. And he is certainly waiting for Ireland to give his best.

Other batters also played an extraordinary game. The Tigers collected 202 runs for 3 wickets in the scheduled 17 overs in the rain-affected match. Ireland lost captain Paul Stirling on the first ball of the innings. He returned with a catch behind the wicket in Taskin’s ball. Then Shakib's attack began. Shakib hunted Lorcan Tucker (6) on his first ball of the match and took four more wickets. Ireland lost 6 wickets for just 43 runs. But in the end, the margin was narrowed by Curtis Campher’s 50 off 30 balls and contributions from Harry Tector’s 22 runs and Graham Hume’s 20 runs.
Bangladesh started the third match with an aim to whitewash Ireland, and the game didn’t go well in favor of the tigers. Ireland tasted victory for the first time after coming to Bangladesh after losing five matches in a row. They could not be stopped in the last match and defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets. As a result, Bangladesh could not whitewash the Irish, and Shakib’s team had to leave the field with the achievement of winning the series.

Still, the 2023 BAN vs IRE T20I series win at 2-1 is satisfying too.

BAN vs IRE 2nd T20I 2023: Match Preview
Ireland could not fight well in the ODI series. And it is assumed that we will also see the same outcome in the T20 series. Bangladesh may whitewash the Irish by playing organized cricket. The first match’s result also indicates the same.
The Irish were defeated by 22 runs in the first T20 of the series on Monday by the DLS method. After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 207 runs for 5 wickets in 19.2 overs. The Bangladeshi pacers proved too strong for Ireland, with Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud delivering excellent bowling. Taskin's career-best performance helped Bangladesh secure an impressive victory in a rain-affected match. Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets with only 16 runs with the ball, which is his career’s best bowling in T20. His previous record was 4 wickets for 25 runs. Hasan Mahmud took the remaining wicket.
However, Ireland got a good batting condition due to rain, but they failed. Hopefully, they will try to come back to the series in the second match. Bangladesh, on the other hand, should be in a cheerful mood as they are one victory away from winning the series.
Pitch Report and Weather
The pitch in Chittagong for the first game of the series was an outstanding one, and it is expected to stay the same for the second match on Wednesday. Key Players to Watch in BAN vs IRE 2nd T20I
Bangladeshi Players to Watch
Rony Talukdar will be on the watch list due to his incredible innings. He got his first fifty in his international career in the first T20 match of the series against Ireland at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday. Rony returned to the dressing room with explosive innings of 67 runs off 38 balls. His aggressive batting style helped Bangladesh score 81 runs without a wicket in 6 overs, which is the Bangladesh team's powerplay record.
In the bowling section, Taskin Ahmed has been very consistent, and his pace action certainly helped Bangladesh to stop Ireland. Coming in the fourth over of the innings, this pacer took 3 wickets and put Bangladesh in a strong position in the match. Taskin bowled two batters, including skipper Starling and one got caught out. So, the Irish will surely play Taskin’s ball carefully in the next game.
Irish Players to Watch
The Irish got off to a great start in the first match, and Paul Stirling started it. Stirling face the first ball of the innings and hit Nasum Ahmed down the ground a four. Again, he swept two more fours in this over. He scored 17 runs from 8 balls. This aggressive batter can be a headache for Bangladesh.

Craig Young was the only blower to take 2 wickets in the first match. So, he might put more effort into the second match. Overall, he has 57 T20 wickets in 54 matches.
Final Words
The Irish are far behind Bangladesh in terms of strength. That gap is expected to increase further at Chittagong in the second BAN vs IRE T20I. However, this Bangladesh had no plan of winning by making a spin stage in Mirpur, as the series is being played at Chittagong's batting support wicket. And we have seen 200+ scores in the last match. So, if Bangladesh bats first in the next match, we may see another big score.

Preview of BAN vs IRE 1st T20I 2023
Bangladesh are going to play three three-match T20I series against Ireland in Chittagong starting on March 27. The other two matches will be on March 29 and 31. Bangladesh and Ireland already reached Chittagong on Friday afternoon. Bangladesh will be looking to continue their dominant run in the format, while Ireland will be eager to come back from their recent ODI loss. The 2023 BAN vs IRE 1st T20I game will start at 2 PM.
Preview of Bangladesh vs Ireland First T20I 2023
Hosts Bangladesh played brilliantly in the ODI series against Ireland in Sylhet. The Irish could not give their best in the 3-match ODI series. The visitors, however, survived a sure whitewash as the second ODI was abandoned with the blessings of rain. In the remaining two matches, Bangladesh won with a record. And through this, the differences in strength and ability between the two teams have become clear. Now, it is expected that Bangladesh will beat them in T20 too.
In the ICC T20 world ranking, Bangladesh is 9th, and Ireland is 12th. However, there have been very few encounters between the two teams in the T20 format. The last T20 fight between each other was in 2012. In other words, in the last 11 years, the two teams have not met in the T20 format.

However, in the 2016 T20 World Cup, Bangladesh-Ireland met in the preliminary round at Dharamsala. But in that match, after Bangladesh scored 94 runs for 2 wickets in 8 overs, the match was abandoned due to rain. This statistic is for the global event or a tournament. And in the bilateral series, the last meeting between the two teams was in 2012. Bangladesh toured Ireland that year and returned home after whitewashing them 3-0.
In total, only 1 of the 5 T20 matches between the two teams has been abandoned, and Bangladesh has won 3 and lost 1. In the 2009 T20 World Cup, the Irish defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets in Nottingham. After that, Bangladesh won 3 consecutive matches. Considering the statistics, the Tigers are clearly ahead.
The Ireland team played the 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. However, they played the preliminary round at Sylhet and departed. Therefore, Bangladesh-Ireland has not met on the country ground so far. After 11 years, they are going to meet again in a bilateral series. Bangladesh is certainly the favorite in this series, as they have beaten the Irish in Sylhet in the ODI series.

Ireland will enter the T20 series with the same squad. The Irish have not played an international match in any format before in Chittagong. So, they will have a completely new experience this time. Earlier this month, the Tigers defeated the world champions England in the previous series at this venue. They lost to Bangladesh at this ground in the third and last ODI of the series after leading by 2-0. Later they lost in the first T20 match in Chittagong as well.
So, it will be a tough challenge for the Irish to do well against Bangladesh in Chittagong. However, Ireland is a very strong team in the T20 format. In the last World Cup, they defeated England by 5 runs. Won against West Indies as well. So, Bangladesh will need to play cautiously.

Final Words
While Bangladesh is determined to win the T20 series, too, Ireland will surely try to come back. However, T20s are more unpredictable than the one-day match. So, guessing the winner is difficult for T20 matches. On top of that, Ireland is better at playing T20 than the ODIs. Hence, we can expect a great fight in BAN vs IRE 1st T20I 2023.

Considering the performance in three matches, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto have been very consistent. And as a new batter, Towhid Hridoy’s performance was also eye-catching. From Ireland, George Dockrell played a brilliant inning of 45 runs off 47 balls, including six fours in the first match. But the rest of the Irish batting lineup failed to perform in both games they batted. Shakib’s 7000 Runs Milestone
After Tamim Iqbal, Shakib became the second Bangladeshi cricketer to cross 7,000 runs milestone in ODIs. Shakib achieved a remarkable feat with his 93-run score. He entered the field with 24 runs away from 7000 runs, and Shakib achieved the landmark easily.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s 7000 Runs
Mushfiqur Rahim scored a century in the second ODI, and he also crossed 7000 runs in ODI cricket. Mushfiqur has become the third batsman from Bangladesh to achieve 7000 runs landmark after Tamim and Shakib. Analysis of Bangladesh T20 Squad Against Ireland
After winning the ODI series against Ireland, Bangladesh is now hoping to repeat its performance against Ireland. Bangladesh will play three-match T20 series against Ireland on March 27, 29, and 31. All these matches will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Previously Bangladesh whitewashed the World Champion England in a T20 series ten days ago. And the team has enough confidence to whitewash Ireland too. Let's take a look at the Bangladesh T20 Squad against Ireland in the upcoming 2023 BAN vs IRE T20 Series.
Bangladesh T20 Squad Against Ireland
Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Litton Das (wk), Rony Talukdar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Jaker Ali.
Changes in Bangladesh Team for BAN vs IRE T20 Series 2023
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a team of fourteen members to compete in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland, starting on March 27th. Two new players, Rishad Hossain, and Jaker Ali Anik, have been included in the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland.
Leg spinner Rishad has been a part of the senior setup for a few years now but has yet to be given a proper chance - even in the domestic tournaments. The last time he played in a domestic tournament was two years ago in the Dhaka Premier League T20s.
Read More: Bangladesh vs Ireland: Tigers earn first 10-wicket ODI win to seal series
Unfortunately, Rishad has only bowled 5.1 overs in the current first-class competition. This makes his inclusion in the team the most interesting call. Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach, likely wanted to observe his performance at the international level. The such experiment is not new for Hathurusingha. During his first period as the coach for the Bangladesh team in 2014, he chose leg spinner Jubair Hossain too.
On the other hand, Jaker has been a standout performer in the Bangladesh Cricket League, notching up three consecutive centuries and finishing as the tournament's highest run-scorer with 492 runs in six innings. He was also a key contributor to Comilla Victorians' BPL championship victory this season.
However, the regular T20 players Afif Hossain and Nurul Hasan were left out of the squad. Afif, along with Shoriful Islam, was also excluded from the ODI squad for the last game. The exclusion of Afif is a major disappointment for the young, energetic batter. His 61 consecutive appearances in T20I had come to a halt when he was excluded from the third T20I match against England. Until recently, Afif was guaranteed to be chosen for both the white-ball formats, but he currently finds himself on the sidelines.
But Shoriful was released from the ODI roster to participate in the Dhaka Premier League but is included in the T20 team against Ireland. Additionally, Tanvir Islam and Rezaur Rahman, who were in the squad that played against England, were not included against Ireland.

Bangladesh Squad Analysis
Apart from the changes mentioned above, the squad remains similar to the squad that whitewashed Bangladesh. So, it can be assumed that Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shakib Al Hasan will be Bangladesh’s trump card as they have shown their class against England.
Najmul Hossain Shanto
Najmul Hossain Shanto's stellar performance in Bangladesh vs England T20 series was remarkable, amassing a total of 144 runs and an impact of 153.2 over three matches. He displayed his remarkable proficiency at the highest level of cricket, with an average impact per match of 51, ultimately leading to Bangladesh's victory.

BAN vs IRE 3rd ODI 2023: Preview of Series Deciding Match
The Bangladesh team scored a huge record-breaking run in the first two matches of the three-match ODI series against Ireland. Bangladesh broke their own record of the highest runs in the past by scoring 338 runs in the first match. In the next match, Tamim Iqbal's team surpassed the record of the previous match by scoring 349 runs. However, the second match of the 2023 BAN vs IRE ODI Series was washed away by rain, and it was a no result. Now Bangladesh will start the last match on March 23 with an aim to win the series, while Ireland will try to level the series by winning it.
Bangladesh vs Ireland ODI Series Overview 2023
Ireland could not even fight against the power of Bangladeshi batsmen-bowlers in the first game. Tamim Iqbal's team won the biggest victory in their ODI history by playing a 'perfect' match. Tamim Iqbal's team defeated Ireland by a huge margin of 183 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
It is Bangladesh's biggest win in terms of runs in 407 ODIs played in 37 years. The previous biggest win by runs was against Zimbabwe. In 2020, Bangladesh, led by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, beat Zimbabwe by 169 runs on March 1 at this ground in Sylhet.
Bangladesh lost the toss and chose to bat first in the first match. Although the start was not good, Shakib and the man of the match, Hridoy, played a great inning with an excellent partnership for the fourth wicket. Later, Mushfiqur Rahim stormed with the bat. Bangladesh scored 338 runs for 8 wickets with the bat of these three, which was the highest collection in their ODI history. In response, Ireland's innings ended with 155 runs in 30.5 overs in the face of the bowling of Ebadot, Nasum, and Taskin.

Two openers, Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das, started cautiously after losing the toss in the second match. From the start, Bangladesh indicated a big collection. Tamim Iqbal returned to the pavilion from being run out for 23 runs, but Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto picked up the fifties in the second ODI of the series against Ireland. But the end was entertained by Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy’s batting. Musfiqur picked his ninth ODI hundred in 60 balls and became the fastest ODI century record holder for Bangladesh.
However, Mushfiqur Rahim's fastest century and Bangladesh’s highest collection in their history in ODIs was declared abandoned at around 8:30. The cut-off time of the match was 9:33 PM. But it was raining in the field for an hour.
Towhid became the first Bangladeshi batsman to miss fifty for 1 run in the first two matches. Mushfiqur needed 9 runs in the last over to become Bangladesh's fastest centurion. Mushfiqur took two runs after getting a strike from the third ball. Next ball, he scooped a low full toss outside the off stump for a boundary. The record of the fastest ODI century for the country was achieved with 2 and 1 runs in the last two balls of the innings, respectively. Graham Hume took three wickets for Ireland in the second match.

Preview of BAN vs IRE 2nd ODI 2023: Can Bangladesh Win the Series?
Bangladesh triumphed over Ireland in the first ODI, proving themselves superior in all areas. The record-breaking score was achieved via aggressive batting. And the bowlers, especially the pacers, were a phenomenon. This follows their prior success in T20, where the pacers played an effective role in whitewashing England in T20. Now, Bangladesh is looking forward to keeping its playing style and winning the series today (March 20, 2023).
Bangladesh vs Ireland 2nd ODI Preview
The second match of the three-match series is scheduled to start at 2 pm on Monday, March 20, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. However, there is a high chance of rain during that time. Also, there is a possibility of rain in Sylhet throughout the day. According to the forecast, the rainfall will be higher on Monday than on Sunday (March 19). A thunderstorm could be on the horizon, and the rain is set to become heavier after 6 pm, so the officials may find it difficult to finish the match on time. For Bangladesh, however, there is not much tension about the match being washed away. Tigers take a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the first ODI. If this match is washed away, the risk of losing the series will be eliminated.
BAN was dominant in the first game of the series against IRE, and now they look to secure the trophy by securing a win in the second match. The team, led by Tamim Iqbal, put up a spectacular display, with Shakib Al Hasan's 93 runs off 89 deliveries and Towhid Hridoy's 92 runs off 85 deliveries leading the way. Mushfiqur Rahim also contributed to the success of the Bangla Tigers, as they posted 338 runs on board at the end of their 50 overs. So, if the second match takes place, Bangladesh will surely try to repeat the first’s match aggressive performance.

On the other hand, the Ireland team has much to improve. Neither their batting nor their bowling was successful in their last encounter, resulting in a 183-run loss. This Ireland squad comprise some young players with a lack of experience playing so many ODIs. However, with the ODI World Cup coming up, this is a major chance for them to become familiar with the environment and do well in subsequent matches. So, they will certainly try to improve their playing style in the upcoming matches. However, Ireland will have to overcome a few factors.
Bowlers like Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Nasum Ahmed are a big challenge for any team touring Bangladesh. However, it was the Bangladesh pacers who did the main damage to Ireland with a good batting wicket at the Sylhet International Stadium. As Ireland did not expect such a condition, in addition to the spinners, now Ireland also needs to think about the Bangladesh pacers.
Although Bangladesh is almost at full strength, Ireland is not getting their best all-rounder Joshua Little on this tour due to IPL. It has been seen over the years how much of a difference he can make, whether it's playing for Ireland or whether it's in franchise cricket. So, Little’s presence could have increased Ireland’s strength.
