2 members of fraud syndicate held in city
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained two members of fraud a syndicate from the city’s Paltan area Tuesday night.
The detainees were Mansur Ahmed, 33 and Mohsin Chowdhury, 55.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-3 and members of National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a drive in the area and detained them, said Khandaker Al Moin, director of Rab’s Legal and Media Wing.
During the briefing, Moin said the detainees were involved in cheating contractors and construction firms alluring them of giving contracts of different development projects claiming that they have close relationship with some influential persons of the country.
The elite force of seized some documents and digital footprints from their possession.
“There are 5/7 members in the syndicate and Mansur is the ringleader of the syndicate,” said the Rab director.

Mansur was a broker of land and later he got a job in a construction firm, said Moin.
Mansur created the syndicate with the help of Saiful, who is now in the united Arab Emirates, and started cheating people.

Cigarette worth Tk 7.5 lakh seized at Chattogram airport
Customs Intelligence officials along with the members of National Security Intelligence (NSI) on Tuesday detained a man along with 252 cartons of foreign cigarettes worth Tk 7.5 lakh from Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport.
The detainee is Anisul Islam, a resident of Lohagarah upazila.

Tipped off, a Customs Intelligence team challenged Anisul, who came from Dubai by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in the morning, said director of the airport Wing Commander Farhad Hossain Khan.
Later, they seized 252 cartons of cigarettes from his luggage.
