32nd National Swimming: Bangladesh Navy swimmers dominate pool on first day
Bangladesh Navy dominated the pool on the first day of the Max Group 32nd National Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Competitions 2023 that began on Monday (Oct 16) at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur here.
The sailors teams established their absolute supremacy in the very first day of the meet securing nine gold, six silver and two bronze medals in the opening day's 10 events, also featured a new national record.

Bangladesh Army are in distant 2nd with one gold, four silver and five bronzes while BKSP are in the 3rd slot with three bronzes.
Samiul Islam Rafi of Bangladesh Navy made the day's lone record in the men's 50-metre back stroke covering distance with a timing of 26.90 second to better his previous own record of 37.38 seconds made in 2022.

Kajol Miah and Sonia Akter Tumpa of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the day's outstanding swimmers clinching two gold medals each.
Earlier, Rear Admiral Mojammad Moyeenul Haque, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff inauguarted the four-day Monday afternoon as the chief guest at a function chaired by general secretary of Bangladesh Swimming Federation MB Saif.
Some 550 swimmers from 54 teams are taking part in 38 swimming events (19 events each for men's and women's), three diving and one water polo event.
Apart from individual gold, silver and bronze medals, the champions team, the runners up team, best male and female swimmers of the meet will also be awarded.

BSF President and Chief of Bangladesh Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hasan will be the chief guest at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the meet on October 19.
BSF senior vice president and chairman of the meet's sponsor Max Group Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir will be the special on the occasion.
