Motorola Moto G34 Review: A Budget-friendly 5G Phone with Powerful Processor
Motorola is one of the early pioneers of mobile communication. From wired telephones, cordless, and the legendary Razr flip phones to today’s smartphones, the brand has adapted well to the changing times and changing needs. Recently, the brand launched Moto G34 on 9th January in India and global markets. Here’s our take on Motorola’s latest offering.
Key Specs of Motorola Moto G34
Design and Build Quality: Frosted Design with Plastic Build
There isn’t much to rave about the design and build quality of budget-friendly smartphones. The G34 has a plastic build (3D PMMA) all around with a frosted finish on the back and the frame. The camera housing has a pillow-like shape with tapered rectangular sides. It might sound a little odd design-wise, but it seemingly blends with the overall minimalist approach.
The dimension of the device comes in at 162.7 mm by 74.6 mm by 8.0mm with a body weight of 180g.
The top frame has an etched Dolby Atmos logo referring to the collaboration. On the front, there’s a punch-hole display with a sizable bezel on the chin and the sides. But given the price, this is an acceptable design compromise.

The volume rocker and the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner is situated on the right. The 3.5 headphone jack is positioned at the bottom alongside the Type-C port. There’s also a micro SDXC slot for additional storage.
The G34 comes in three different colorways, ice blue, charcoal black, and ocean green (vegan leather back).
The Display: A standard HD+ LCD Display with a 120 Hz refresh rate
The G34 features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Being a budget-friendly smartphone, the screen-to-body ratio comes in at 85% and the active area-touch panel comes in at 89%.
The resolution of the panel is 720 by 1600 pixels with 269 ppi and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display performance is satisfactory considering the price. It has good viewing angles and all the tests showed that it was able to maintain the 120 Hz fast refresh rate in different use cases.

The panel also has 500 nits of HBM. The display is usable in bright light but you’d have to squint your eyes under direct sunlight.
The Camera: A 50 MP Main and 2 MP Macro
The Moto G34 features a dual camera setup with the main camera being a 50 MP f/1.8 wide-angle shooter. The included secondary camera is a 2 MP f/2.4 macro shooter. In effect, the G34 is a single-shooter device relying on its primary camera. The smartphone also features a 16 MP f/2.4 wide-angle selfie camera.
Speaking of performance, the G34 produces passable results. Pictures came out decently in bright daylight with a decent dynamic range. The portrait mode of the main shooter was surprisingly good with great edge detection. However, the background blurring may seem a bit too blurred for many.
Pictures taken indoors had some softness issues. The night mode made things a bit better with its exposure and details but the overall softness remained. The same problem plagues the front camera as well where pictures even in daylight lack sharpness.

The videography on the G34 is rated at 1080p at 30fps. The lack of any OIS and EIS is felt in choppy video quality overall.
Processor and Performance: A Touch Above the Competition
One of the key highlights of the G34 is its processor. Motorola went with a Snapdragon 695 5G chip based on the 6 Nm architecture. By all means, the 695 5G can be considered as a proper mid-range processor. Using it on a budget-friendly smartphone like the G34 gives it the edge over its competitors.
The processor has a chip design of 2x2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold & 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver with Adreno 619 GPU.
The Snapdragon 695 scored up to 439099 on Antutu 10 and 908 (single core) and 2134 (multi core) on Geekbench 6. The benchmark scores reflect the performance capability of the G34.

On the test, the device was able to run all the leading titles like Genshin Impact, PUBG, and Asphalt 9 without any lag whatsoever. Sure enough, the processor didn’t maintain constant frame rates, but we didn’t see any noticeable frame drops. However, the device did get hot after 30-odd minutes of gaming but thankfully the processor didn’t throttle.
Needless to say, the device was an absolute breeze in day-to-day use. The high refresh rate display aided well in this regard.
Software: Android 14 with Useful Bloatware
The Moto G34 is running Motorola’s custom OS based on Android 14. Motorola guaranteed another OS update with up to 3 years of security patches. The OS itself isn’t too bloatware-heavy. The included ones are quite useful.
For example, the “Ready For” feature which is available with the highest variant (8/128 GB) seemingly preps the device for all sorts of connectivity from Bluetooth to even connecting with your PC.

However, the Motorola Moto G34 5G’s 8/128 variant is available in Bangladesh at BDT 17000. The price may vary depending on the sellers.
Verdict
The Moto G34 offers 5G capabilities. The provision of the Snapdragon 695 5G chipset in this price range is praiseworthy. This device is also suitable for moderate-level gaming without significant heating issues. The users will enjoy its 120Hz refresh rate, 5000 mAh battery, and 50MP prime sensor.
Moto G34’s design, display, video capacity, and charging support can be a point of contention. However, its smooth experience with 5G speed overshadows the shortcomings. It can be a perfect daily driver that can easily handle whatever that’s thrown at it.
On the whole, the Motorola Moto G34 would be a perfect fit for those looking for a 5G phone with a powerful processor at an affordable price.

Nokia C32: Reliable Budget Smartphone for Everyday Use Under BDT 14,000
Over the last decade, Nokia has struggled to get a grip on the smartphone market. After the failure of its first few attempts, the world-renowned smartphone brand is now advancing with caution. So, its recent releases appear more balanced and thoughtful than before. The Nokia C32 was officially released in Bangladesh on 6th April 2024. Through and through a budget-friendly phone, the Nokia C32 aims to reinstall people’s trust in the brand.
Key Specs and Features of the Nokia C32
Being an entry-level phone, the Nokia C32 hardly promises to offer high-end features. However, due to its well-earned recognition for manufacturing sturdy and durable phones, Nokia is once more demonstrating its quality with its latest release. In that context, let’s find out the depth of its endeavor.
Design
The Nokia C32 confines itself within a 164.6 mm by 75.9 mm by 8.6 mm frame, having a total weight of 199.4 g.

Plastic-built, the main body frame has glass covers on the rear and front. Against awry light, the back covering glass reflects an intangible texture, gleaming a premium look. The glass is hardy and protective against small accidental falls from hands. It can magnet dust. The back of the phone has a camera module in the upper left corner with a double lens holding capacity.
On the front, the phone lays scratch-protective glass, shielding the display and secondary lens, which sits in a water drop hole on the middle top of the display. The bezel and chin have been kept slim, without compromising the overall look.
A side-mounted power button combined with a fingerprint sensor protrudes on the right frame. Over it are the volume rockers, keeping perfect alignment with the power button. A 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-C charging port, and a speaker are placed around the frame. The only lack users will have to accept is a noise-cancellation system.

Display
A 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen that maintains a 20:9 aspect ratio comes as the display of the Nokia C32. With a resolution of 720 by 1600, the display fails to surface crisp videos. From some angles, the graphics revealed on the display seem a tad washed out, perhaps due to its capacity of low pixel density.
The display struggles to project explicit images on the display outdoors. Even maximizing brightness does little help in glaring daylight. The touch response of the screen often degrades, however, that doesn’t cut any hole in the overall experience. A bit higher refresh rate would be more practical and welcoming.
Cameras
Two rear cameras, one with a 50MP wide lens and another with a 2MP macro lens, don’t fall short in quality, in contrast with the other phones around a similar price range. For features, Nokia has included HDR, Portrait, and Night Mode which demand not to be expected high performance. The night mode can’t save images, captured in low light, from having a little sprinkled noise.

Its 8 MP lens on the front snaps good-quality selfies. Like the main shooter, it also stumbles while capturing low-light images.
The primary camera can record videos at 30fps in 1080p resolution. Conversely, the front camera records at a lower frame-per-second rate in 720p resolution.
Performance
The Nokia C32 boasts a Unisoc SC9863A1 processor based on 22nm architecture. An IMG8322 GPU is incorporated to tackle graphical stress.
The phone can be divided into several variants depending on the storage and RAM capacity - 64GB storage by 3GB RAM, 64GB storage by 4GB RAM, 128GB storage by 4GB RAM, and 128GB storage by 6GB RAM. It is supported by eMMC 5.1. However, the eMMC data transfer technology is outdated.

The processor and GPU used in the Nokia C32 are common in entry-level phones. However, a 22nm chipset is somewhat archaic compared to the competitors. High-end gaming will hardly be possible with the Nokia C32. Games that require low spec will run smoothly. The phone is designed only to support regular multitasking, scrolling over the internet, and basic app maneuvering smoothly.
The phone runs on stock Android 13 OS, keeping the user interface bloatware-free. It will provide a 2-year updating support for Android, which is praise-worthy for a low-budget phone.
Battery and Charger
The battery of the Nokia C32 is quite strong with a capacity of 5000 mAh. It will provide day-long support even for heavy use. Keeping the average usage rate, the phone will run for 3 days, as claimed by Nokia. The battery will support up to 10W menacingly low charging. At this rate, the battery will take a few hours to go from empty to fully charged.

Cons
- The display lacks crispness and struggles outdoors- The touch response of the screen may degrade at times- Low pixel density affects graphics quality- Limited video recording capabilities, especially for the front camera- Outdated processor, GPU architecture, and data transfer technology- Inadequate for high-end gaming- Slow charging speed at 10W.

Price of Nokia 32 in Bangladesh
The Nokia C32 phone is officially available at BDT 13,499.
Conclusion
As a budget-friendly phone, the Nokia C32 offers good features like a 50 MP primary camera, 5000 mAh battery, glass cover on the rear, etc. It also has weaknesses in terms of performance and charging. The itel P55+ offers a better processor with UFS 2.2 data transfer technology at similar price ranges.
Considering overall features, heavy users and gamers shouldn’t opt for this device. But considering its price range the limitations are acceptable. Nokia C32 will best suit people seeking a device with browsing and essential tasking capacity.

itel S23+ Review: Budget-friendly phone with AI-assistant
Ever since the itel S23+ has been announced, there has been quite a hype around this smartphone. itel is known for its smartphones in the entry-level to mid-range segment. The brand launched its S23+ on 19th September 2023 in India. Beyond the obvious confusion with Samsung’s flagship, the itel S23+ brings surprising features that are almost unthinkable in the budget segment. So what’s this hype about? Let’s find out.
Key Specifications of Itel S23+
Design and Build Quality
The design and naming philosophy of the smartphone can be considered a cosmopolitan mix of brand identities. The back looks like the iPhone, the front like Huawei, and a name that mimics the Samsung flagship, the S23+ has a lot going for itself.
But on a serious note, it is surprising to see itel pull off a sleek-looking curved screen device at such an ultra-budget price segment. The exact dimensions of the smartphone couldn’t be confirmed but the device is 7.9 mm thick with 178 g weight. There are two color options – Lake Cyan and Elemental Blue.

There is a large camera housing on the back that looks exactly like that of the iPhone Pro, except it is much larger in size and one of the arranged sensor spaces is actually dedicated to the flashlight.
The plastic back has a frosted finish that gives it a glass-like look. However, the main design attraction is at the front with the curved panel.
The scant bezels on the top and bottom along with the small punch-hole camera make the display look like an upper mid-range or flagship device.

Another interesting feature is the in-display fingerprint scanner which is also uncommon in budget smartphones. Ports and buttons are as usual but the micro SDXC and the 3.5 mm headphone jack are missing on the S23+ which is a bit odd considering these are almost staple in budget smartphones.
The Display
The display on the itel S23+ is a 6.78-inch AMOLED curved panel with FHD+ resolution. The panel has a 1080 x 2400 pixels distribution at a 20:9 ratio and 388 ppi density. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The display is what’s usually seen on a mid-range smartphone. Except the S23+ is placed almost in an ultra-budget segment. The performance of the display has been pretty good. There’s a decent amount of curve on both sides but itel has optimized the OS well to ensure there aren’t any accidental touches. The color reproduction looked great with good viewing angles all around. There’s also 500 nits of peak brightness on the panel which makes it fairly legible under direct sunlight.

The display of the S23+ has generated considerable buzz around the smartphone and honestly, the hype here is absolutely justified. The only lacking would be a higher refresh rate but its absence doesn’t take away anything from an already great experience.
The Camera
There’s a dual camera setup on the S23+. The flashlight is arranged in such a way that it might look like a triple camera sensor at first glance. The main camera is a 50 MP f/1.6 wide-angle shooter with AF. The secondary camera is a 0.08 MP camera. The S23+ is essentially a single-camera smartphone as the secondary camera won’t be of any practical use.
Even then, the camera performed pretty well. Pictures taken outdoors and in bright conditions came out sharp and crisp. The dynamic range was average and the shadow exposures were a hit and miss at times.
