Father, daughter killed in their sleep in Mymensingh
A sleepy night in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh turned into a scene of horror and grief on Tuesday (11th November 2025) when miscreants killed a father and his minor daughter by slitting-throat after entering their house.
The victims-Ratan Mia, 32, and his 7-year-old daughter Nuria Akter, were found dead at their home in Amir Khan Kura village of Baghaitala union around 3am Tuesday.
Quoting locals, police said Ratan, a garment worker by profession, had gone to sleep after dinner when assistants entered the house between 2am to 3am.
The attackers slaughtered Ratan and his daughter, said police.

Besides, the miscreants attempted to slaughter Ratan’s wife Julekha Akter but failed due to her screaming.
She is now undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
Officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman of Haluaghat Police Station said on information in the morning they recovered the bodies from the scene and sent them to the MMCH for autopsy.
Several teams visited the spot and are working to unveil the reason behind the murder, he said.
On July 14 this year, a 25-year-old mother and her seven-year-old daughter were killed by slitting their throats at their house in Bhaluka upazila of the district.

3 buses set on fire in Gazipur
Miscreants set fire to three buses at different locations in Gazipur on Tuesday night (11th November 2025) and early Wednesday (12th November 2025), triggering panic among people.
However, no casualties have so far been reported, according to fire service officials.
The first incident occurred at dawn (Wednesday) when a group of unidentified people torched a bus parked on Dhaka–Tangail highway near Peyarabagan area of Bhogra Bypass.
Being informed, firefighters from the Bhogra Modern Fire Service rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
Bus torched after running over teenager in Sirajganj
Around the same time, another group set fire to a minibus in the Beraid Chala area of Sreepur upazila of the district.
Fire service personnel from Sreepur Fire Service Station responded and managed to bring the fire under control.
In a separate incident around 10pm on Tuesday, miscreants set a minibus ablaze at Chakrabarti along the Kaliakoir–Nabinagar highway, partially burning its seats.
Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said the Peyarabagan fire caused an estimated Tk 20 lakh in damages, while the Sreepur incident led to losses worth about Tk 10 lakh.

Four vehicles set ablaze in Dhaka overnight amid rising arson incidents
In a worrying continuation of recent arson attacks, miscreants set fire to four vehicles, including a private car, in different parts of the capital early Tuesday (11th November 2025), keeping residents on edge amid heightened tension across the city.
According to the control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, the first incident occurred around 12:54 am when a bus of Rajdhani Paribahan was torched in the Rayerbagh area.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further.
Shortly afterwards, around 2:03 am, a private car was set on fire near Bashundhara Gate in the Natun Bazar area. The incident disrupted movement in the vicinity, though no one was reported injured.

Two more buses were set ablaze in quick succession — one belonging to Raida Paribahan near Kajla toll plaza in Jatrabari at 2:08 am, and another at Janapath intersection in Uttara around 4:00 am.
Fire Service duty officer Rashed Bin Khalid confirmed that several firefighting units were dispatched promptly to all the affected locations to douse the flames. However, no casualties were reported in any of the incidents.
The latest spate of arson follows a similar series of attacks on Monday (10th November 2025), when three vehicles were torched in Shahjadpur, Merul Badda and Dhanmondi areas of Dhaka.

35-year-old shot dead in Dhaka's Gulshan
Miscreants shot and killed a 35-year-old man in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Sumon, an internet business owner, said Sub-inspector Maruf Ahmed of Gulshan Police Station.
Sumon was shot in front of Gulshan Police Plaza around 9 pm while standing on the road on the plaza’s north side, the SI said.
UPDF man shot dead in Khagrachhari
The victim got into a scuffle with several individuals before the assailants opened fire on him. The miscreants then fled the scene. Police rushed Sumon to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead around 11 pm.
Sumon’s family said that he had long-standing business disputes with Rubel, a man who operates a cable service in the Mohakhali TV Gate area. Sumon’s brother-in-law Md Badsha Mia Rubel said the shooting might have resulted from these tensions, as Rubel had allegedly threatened to kill Suman in the past.
32-year-old shot dead in Jashore
Police were working to identify the attackers.
Sumon had multiple criminal cases, including extortion, filed against him in various police stations, including Gulshan and Banani, said Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Nazrul Islam.
He might have been killed due to internal conflict, said the addl commissioner
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy, added the SI.

32-year-old shot dead in Jashore
A 32-year-old man was shot dead by a group of assailants late Monday night in what is believed to be a gang-related attack in Jashore city.
The victim, identified as Meer Samir Sakib Sadi, was gunned down near his home on Murrib Road in the city, said said Additional Police Superintendent Noor-ul-Alam Siddiqui.
25-year-old killed in clash over sand extraction in Mymensingh
The incident occurred around 11:45 pm when Sadi, along with his cousin was morting on a motorcycle in the courtyard of their residence behind Jayanti Society.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of armed assailants ambushed Sadi, first stabbing him from behind with a knife before shooting him multiple times. Despite one of the rounds misfiring, the attackers fired several more shots, hitting Sadi in the neck and chest. He was rushed to Jashore General Hospital but was declared dead shortly after arrival.
Rakib, Sadi’s cousin, sad the victim had been targeted after rejecting the demands of local miscreants involved in illegal activities, including extortion and smuggling.
Sadi had strong ties to Mansell, the expelled joint convener of the Jubo League and a top terror in Jashore. Mansell, who has been on the run since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, had his associates, including Sadi, involved in a range of illicit activities in the region, said police.
"It is believed that the assailants, who were also former associates of Mansell, may have seen Sadi's return as a threat to their own criminal interests, ultimately leading to his murder," said the police official.
In 2013, Sadi was injured in a road accident at Palbari Sculpture intersection of the town after killing Kabir Hossain Polash, the then vice-president of Jashore district Chhatra Dal. One of his legs had to be amputated in the accident, according to locals.

13-year-old girl killed, mother injured in Narsingdi attack
Miscreants have hacked a 13-year-old girl to death and left her mother critically injured after breaking into their home.
The incident happened at the house of Mofazzal Hossain, a tea vendor, near the Shekherchar-Baburhat market in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila on Monday, said Narsingdi Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Emdad Hossain.
The deceased was identified as Sumona Akter Tithi, and the injured is her mother, Asma Begum, 40.
Child killed in road accident in Meherpur
Neighbours rushed Asma to a private hospital in Madhabdi for initial treatment before transferring her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Tithi was taken to Sadar Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to family members, Mofazzal discovered the gruesome scene upon returning home around 10:30 pm after closing his tea stall. He found his wife and daughter lying in pools of blood in their second-floor room. His physically disabled child, however, was found unharmed in the bathroom.

Law enforcement officials, including Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Anwar Hossain and officers from Sadar Police Station and the district detective branch, inspected the crime scene and surrounding areas.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the reason and identify those responsible for the crime, said the OC.

Police foil miscreants’ attempt to derail train in Narayanganj ahead of blockade
Police foiled a sabotage attempt of miscreants to derail a train in Fatullah on Dhaka-Narayanganj route, ahead of the latest 48-hour road-rail-waterway blockade across Bangladesh called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties.
Mokhlesur Rahman, sub-inspector of Narayanganj Government Railway Police, said miscreants attached a heavy iron plate to the rail line at Kotolerbagh in an attempt to derail the train.
Locals first noticed it and informed police through the national emergency number 999.

Police are trying to arrest those involved in the sabotage attempt, he said.

11 arson attacks reported in 15 hours: Fire Service
Eleven arson attacks were recorded in the past 15 hours, from 6 pm yesterday till 9 am this morning (November 19, 2023).
A total of 11 vehicles were set on fire by miscreants during this time. Of these, five were set on fire inside Dhaka city, according to the media cell of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Meanwhile, three reports of arson violence were recorded in Rajshahi division, two in Chattogram, and one in Mymensingh, said Talha Bin Zashim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (media cell).
The affected vehicles included six buses, one covered van, one CNG-run autorickshaw, one pickup van, and three carriages of a train.
A total of 107 members of 20 firefighting units worked to douse the fires across the country during this period.
A 48-hour hartal — called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties — protesting the general election schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC) is underway from this morning amid fear of violence.

2 DU students attacked in Ramna Kali Mandir area
Two students of Dhaka University (DU) were injured in an attack by miscreants in the Ramna Kali Mandir area of the city early today (October 22, 2023).
The injured Sourav Sarkar, 25, and Sumit, 23, are students of the Craft and Sculpture departments, respectively, of the university and residents of Jagannath Hall.
Senior students of the hall said the duo, accompanied by others, went out of the hall to visit Durga Puja mandaps at night.

An altercation occurred between the two and some miscreants near the Ramna Kali Mandir around 2 am. The reason behind the incident could not be known immediately.
At one stage, the miscreants beat them up and stabbed Sourav in the stomach with a sharp object, they said.

Khulna city polls: Miscreants attack BNP leader Kaisar’s house, threaten not to join election
Miscreants attacked the house of former ward councillor and local BNP leader Md Mahbub Kaisar last night.
They also reportedly verbally abused Kaisar’s family members and threatened that he should not join the upcoming Khulna city corporation election. Kaisar, elected from Ward 22 twice, was not home when the attack was carried out.
His family members and locals said the miscreants — on 14 to 15 motorbikes — came in front of the house around 11:30 pm and tried to break into the house in the Customs Ghat area of Khulna city.
They also hurled brickbats at the house, verbally abused Kaisar’s family members and threatened that Kaisar shouldn’t join the election, neighbours said, adding that the miscreants fled when locals started approaching the scene upon hearing the chaos.
Kaisar, expected to compete in the upcoming Khulna City Corporation election for the post of ward councillor despite BNP’s decision to boycott the polls, confirmed the incident. He is yet to buy nomination paper.

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and police have been informed about the incident, Kaisar said, adding that the mayor assured him of looking into the matter.
Hasan Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Khulna Sadar police station, confirmed the incident, saying that legal action will be taken once a complaint is filed.
It is to be noted that candidates including councillors will be able to buy nomination papers till May 14 while the last date for submission of the papers has been set till May 16.
