An unspecified number of people including 15-20 policemen were injured in a clash between the students of City College and Dhaka College near Science Laboratory intersection in the capital on Tuesday.Witnesses said some students of Dhaka College gathered in front of City College gate around 10:30 am and removed a steel logo on the gate.Angered by the incident, the students of City College chased the Dhaka College students, triggering a clash.On information, police rushed to the spot and charged baton to disperse the students. Dhaka College, City College students clash at Science LabPolice also lobbed tear gas shells and fired sound grenades to bring the situation under control.At one stage, some students hurled brick chips targeting police, leaving 15-20 policemen injured, said officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station Mahsin Uddin.Several students were also injured during the clash.Vehicular movement in Science Laboratory area remained suspended for three and half an hours following the clash.

Students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College clashed in the capital’s Science Laboratory area on Monday noon, disrupting traffic in and around the area. Witnesses said students of City College took position under the Science Lab foot over bridge while students of Dhaka College gathered in front of the Government Teachers’ Training College around 11:40 am over some social media posts.  At one point, they chased each other and threw brick chips, triggering a clash. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ramna Division) Masud Alam said police dispersed the students. DMP New Market Zone assistant commissioner Tarikh Latif said the clash broke out over social media posts. Additional police were deployed and situation is under control now, he said. 

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between students of Dhaka College and City College at Science Lab area in the capital on Wednesday. Witnesses said the clash started around 3:00 pm and both sides chased each other with sticks and iron rods and threw bricks and stones. At one point, the army perssonel and police attempted to control the situation by chasing the students. The clash disrupted traffic movement in Science Lab area, triggering traffic chaos on roads in the adjacent areas. Police were deployed to maintain law and order at the scene, and army personnel were also seen controlling the situation. Sakib Hasan, a Geography student from Dhaka College's 2022-23 session, said, "Today was the 184th founding anniversary celebration of Dhaka College. After the event, around 2:30 PM, all students left one by one by bus. When three buses reached the Science Lab area, City College students stopped the buses, vandalised them, and physically assaulted many students." Sakib further mentioned earlier there was some conflict between Dhaka College's HSC students and City College students and the conflict led them to vandalism of our buses.
