He said that Bangladesh is an industrially rich country with great potential, and the number of industrial establishments continues to grow, contributing to the sector's progress.
“Despite this growth, hundreds of thousands of industrial engineers employed in these establishments face significant discrimination and harassment in their workplaces,” he added.
He further emphasized that the Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB) is an organization representing engineers in the industrial sector.
The association must work actively to eliminate all forms of discrimination faced by engineers working in the industrial and private sectors.
He also argued that it is both logical and timely to set a minimum entry-level salary of Tk 20,000 for fresh diploma engineers and Tk 30,000 for fresh graduate engineers joining industrial, private, or non-government sectors.
BD Rahmatullah, Director General of the Power Cell, said that the Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB) has been celebrating December 11 as Industrial Engineers Day every year to facilitate discussions on the legitimate demands, rights, benefits, welfare, and the elimination of discrimination for engineers working in industries and the private sector.
