NBR extends income tax return deadline to January 31
The interim government of Bangladesh has extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns for individual taxpayers for the second time for the 2025–26 tax year.
According to an order issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the return submission deadline has been extended from December 31, 2025 to January 31, 2026.
It says the decision was taken in public interest under the powers conferred by Section 334 of the Income Tax Act, 2023, with prior approval from the government.

Earlier, the NBR had extended the original deadline once from November 30 to December 31, citing various difficulties faced by taxpayers.
The latest extension aims to provide additional time to facilitate wider compliance and ease pressure on taxpayers.
The NBR has urged eligible taxpayers to avail themselves of the extended time and submit their returns within the revised deadline to avoid any inconvenience.

Bangladesh sets deadline for undocumented foreign nationals to legalise status
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a warning to foreign nationals residing and working in Bangladesh without proper documentation, setting a deadline of January 31, 2025, to legalise their status.
The ministry said that legal action will be initiated against both undocumented foreign nationals and the institutions employing or harbouring them if they fail to comply by the deadline.

The announcement was made in an official notice released on Thursday.
According to the statement, a significant number of foreign nationals are currently living and working in Bangladesh without required legal permits.

In addition, the Home Ministry called on relevant departments and institutions to assist in ensuring the foreign nationals comply with the deadline.

Income tax returns submission deadline extended to Jan 31
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuesday extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns by one month till January 31.
The last date of submitting income tax returns of all categories of taxpayers except companies for the tax year 2024-2025 was December 31.

The revenue authority issued an order extending the time for submission of income tax returns by one month for both online e-return and offline filing of paper returns for all taxpayers except companies for the convenience of taxpayers.
It also extended the deadline for company tax return by one month from January 15 to February 15.
