Consensus Building Commission: Chief Adviser to address first meeting with political parties Saturday
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will hold the first of possibly many meetings with the political parties on Saturday as part of interim government’s efforts to build national consensus ahead of the next national election.
The first meeting of the national consensus-building commission, to be chaired by Dr Yunus, will be held from 1500 to 1730 hours (3pm-5.30pm) at the Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir told UNB on Friday.
The Chief Adviser will deliver a speech at the meeting, he said.

Earlier, the government formed a seven-member National Consensus Commission to review and adopt the recommendations submitted by the six key reform commissions.
The members of the new commission are Prof Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission; Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, head of Public Administration Reform Commission; Safar Raj Hossain, head of Police Reform Commission; Badiul Alam Majumder, head of Election Reform Commission; Justice Emdadul Haque, head of Judiciary Reform Commission; and Dr Iftekharuzzaman, head of Anti-Corruption Reform Commission.
The commission will operate for six months starting from tomorrow (February 15).

Dr Yunus holds high-level meetings in Davos
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on the sidelines of World Economic Forum annual meeting.
On the sidelines, the Chief Adviser held a separate meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
Dr Yunus also had a meeting with Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb, the 13th President of the Republic of Finland.

Dr Yunus arrived here on Tuesday afternoon to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos where he engaged extensively with the global leaders since his arrival.
Earlier, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN in Geneva Ambassador Tareq Md Ariful Islam received the Chief Adviser at the Zurich International Airport upon his arrival.
The Chief Adviser and his delegation members arrived at the Zurich International Airport at 12:27pm (Zurich time) by an Emirates flight.
Chief Adviser's Special Envoy on International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, Principal Coordinator on SDGs Affairs (Senior Secretary) Lamiya Morshed, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Secretary (West) M Riaz Hamidullah, among others, are accompany Dr Yunus.
The annual meeting 2025 brought global leaders to address key global and regional challenges.
These include responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and stewarding just and inclusive energy transition.

This year's meeting convened under the theme 'Collaboration for the Intelligent Age' and the programme will be oriented around five distinct but highly interconnected thematic priorities:
The meeting brings together nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries, and 350 governmental leaders, including 60 heads of states and governments, from all key regions.

All-party meeting Thursday to finalise ‘July Declaration’ with consensus: Mahfuj
The interim government will hold an all-party meeting on Thursday to finalise the “July Declaration” based on a “national consensus” amid the presence of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
“On Thursday, we will know how it is getting done and what is there inside (contents) and when it will be declared,” said Adviser Mahfuj Alam while briefing the media at Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday evening.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammad and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi were also present.
He hoped that a document, reflecting the background and spirit of July uprising, will be drafted based on a consensus through Thursday’s meeting and it will be clear the same day when they will issue the declaration and how the government will play a role in issuing this.
“We tried to talk to stakeholders and political parties and tried to take their opinions,” Mahfuj said.
The Adviser also said CA Dr Yunus, advisers and all stakeholders will be present when the declaration will be issued.

Earlier, the interim government initiated the process of preparing a declaration on the July uprising, based on a national consensus.
According to the Chief Adviser’s (CA) press wing, the declaration will be adopted to solidify the unity of people forged through the July uprising, reflecting its anti-fascist spirit and the demand for state reforms.
The draft will incorporate the views of all political parties and students, including those of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement that spearheaded the mass uprising.
The declaration will articulate the perspective of the July uprising, the foundation of unity and the aspirations of people, the press wing noted.
The government expressed optimism that the declaration will be prepared unanimously with participation from all stakeholders and subsequently presented to the nation.
