The latest batch of Rohingyas has reached Noakhali’s Bhasan Char.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said Bangladesh will extend its highest possible support to the Maldives in fighting the adverse impacts of global warming.

People will not be allowed to flock to Bhashan Char for aimless wandering.

Illegal occupants will be evicted from the forest lands and the forests will be brought back. The country will be turned into green Bengal by planting more and more trees.

Trees will fill places in Cox’s Bazar left vacant by Rohingyas who have and will set for Bhashan Char in phases.

Bangladesh has said  30-year-old island Bhashan Char is completely safe and suitable for human habitation with all the amenities and there has been no forceful relocation. 

As part of the government’s initiative to relocate Rohingyas to Bhasan Char, 1,134 Rohingyas started their journey to the island by five ships on Tuesday in the second batch.

Around 1,700 more Rohingyas have started the journey from Cox’s Bazar to Bhashan Char in the second phase, although the initial plan was to transfer 700 only.

BNP on Monday strongly opposed the relocation of Rohingyas to Bhashan Char, saying it has manifested the government’s ‘limitless diplomatic and political failures’ to resolve the problem.
