Stock Market: Indices end second trading day on a positive note
The second trading session of the week ended on a positive note for the Dhaka and Chattogram stock markets, with indices closing higher.
Despite the rise in the overall index, most companies in Chattogram saw a decline in prices, while the price movement in Dhaka was relatively balanced.
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)
On Monday, the DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 8 points.
The Shariah-based DSES rose by 5 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index saw a marginal increase below the decimal point.
Dhaka stock market opens higher, Chattogram sees decline
Out of 401 traded companies on the DSE, 166 advanced, 165 declined, and 70 remained unchanged.
Category-wise, most companies under the ‘A’ category witnessed a drop in share prices, whereas the ‘B’ category recorded gains in a majority of stocks.
Meanwhile, the ‘Z’ category showed an equal split between gainers and losers.
Among the 37 traded mutual funds, most remained unchanged.
The prices of 5 funds increased, 14 declined, and 18 remained steady.
In the block market, shares of 18 companies were traded, with a total of 40 lakh shares changing hands for Tk 21 crore.
Global stocks fluctuate amid persistent concerns over Trump’s tariffs
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited topped the block market trades, selling shares worth Tk 7 crore.
Sonali Paper & Board Mills Limited led the gainers with a 9.99% price increase, while ICB MCL Sonali Bank Limited First Mutual Fund was the biggest loser, dropping by 8.57%.
Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE)
The Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) began the day with a significant downturn but managed to recover slightly by the end of trading.
The overall index increased by 1 point, though most listed companies experienced a decline in their share prices.
Among the 210 traded companies on the CSE, 83 gained, 86 declined, and 41 remained unchanged.
Besides, overall trading volume declined at the CSE. Compared to the previous day's turnover of Tk 5.30 crore, the day's total stood at Tk 3.65 crore.
On the other hand, turnover at the DSE increased.
The day's total turnover stood at Tk 420 crore, up from Tk 374 crore in the previous session.
