Nine held with arms, drugs in Cumilla joint raid
Joint forces detained nine people, including teen gang members, after conducting drives at their dens in Cumilla city and Sadar Dakshin upazila early Sunday.
A huge amount of arms, bullets, drugs and illegal materials were also recovered during the raids.
The forces include Bangladesh Army and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and the operation began at 3:50 am in Durgapur area under Cumilla Sadar Dakshin police station, where local ‘arms supplier’ Md Rubel was detained.
Rubel had recently come into limelight for publicly displaying firearms in Cumilla and was reportedly supplying weapons to teenage gangs.

In a separate raid at Palashi Goli of Cumilla city, three others -- Md Akib Hossain, 29, Md Sajjad Hossain, 47, and Md Shahadat Hossain, 28, -- were detained.
The joint forces recovered a 9mm pistol, four rounds of ammunition, one revolver with eight rounds, contraband Yaba pills, foreign liquor, gold chains, laptops and various other illegal items hidden under a table.
Based on the information obtained from the detainees, the joint forces also later held four more teenage gang members—Md Saiful Islam, 19, Md Imran Hossain Ratan, 19, Md Mojahid, 21, and Md Rafiul Alam Shafi, 20, -- from different areas.
Four mobile phones were also seized from them.

During the operation, another suspect, Humayun Kabir, 45, believed to be associated with the gang, was also detained.
A process was underway to hand over them to the respective police stations for legal action.

Joint forces detain 20, seize 150 weapons in Narsingdi raid
The joint forces detained 20 people and recovered some 150 sharp weapons during a raid in a remote char of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Monday.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) media release on Tuesday, the operation was conducted by a joint team comprising the Army, Air Force, Rapid Action Battalion, police and local administration, following a tip-off about the presence of miscreants in the area.

During the drive, 20 listed criminals or suspects were apprehended, while three mobile phones and around 150 weapons were seized, the release added.
It said that operations against terrorists will continue nationwide, urging people to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp.

Two killed, five held during joint forces raid at Mohammadpur
Two people were killed during a joint forces operation at Chand Udyan in Mohammadpur early Thursday.
Five people were also detained with a foreign pistol, several rounds of bullets, and a machete during the raid, said Juwel Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mohammadpur Zone Police.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
According to him, the joint forces, led by the Army, launched the operation on Road No-5 in Chand Udyan following a tip-off about criminals hiding there.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the suspects took shelter inside a house when they were asked to surrender around 1:00 am.
Instead, they opened fire at the joint forces from inside the house, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate in self-defence, he added.
25 arrested in anti-crime drive at Mohammadpur
Upon receiving information, a team from Mohammadpur Police Station arrived at the scene, recovered two bodies, and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
AKM Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Police Commissioner of the zone, said five men were detained from different spots inside the house.
However, some other suspects managed to flee, the police official added, noting that legal proceedings were underway against the detainees.

Former MP Sala Uddin held in Jashore
Joint forces detained former MP from Jhenaidah-3 constituency Major Gen (retd) Md Sala Uddin Miaji from Jashore Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
Locals and students besieged Shyamolchhaya Park, owned by the former MP, in Rudrapur village of Chachra union under the upazila, on Tuesday evening after being tipped-off that Sala Uddin had been staying at the park.
The protesting people tried to enter the park but failed due to intervention of the joint forces.
Former MP and Food Minister advocate Qamrul Islam arrested in Dhaka
Later around 11pm, the joint forces detained Sala Uddin, former military secretary to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from the park and handed him over to Detective Branch (DB), said Manjurul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Jashore DB.
The detainee will also be handed over to Jhenaidah police today (Wednesday), he said.
Sala Uddin was elected MP from the Jhenaidah-3 seat in the 12th national election.

Joint forces' 'Devil Hunt' gains momentum on 3rd day, with over 600 arrested
The joint forces arrested 607 people across the country under 'Operation Devil Hunt' on what was the third day of the operation.
It brings the total arrested on the first three days of the operation till Tuesday afternoon to 2258, said sources at the police headquarters.
Some 1168 of the arrests till yesterday were in connection with different cases against them, it said.

During the third day's operations, the joint forces also recovered arms and ammunition including two pistols, one LG, one shutter gun, one pipe gun, two magazines, two rounds of bullets, five cartridges, thirteen knives, two machetes, six sharp weapons, two axes, one saw, three hammers, two plus, two sticks and two wood machineries.
Earlier, the joint forces arrested 1,651 people on the first and 2nd day of the operation.
The government launched the nationwide security operation on Saturday night, ostensibly aiming "to curb unrest and ensure public safety". The context in which it came about, however, suggested a particular focus on supporters and activists of the Awami League, including its banned student front, the Chhatra League.
The operation was devised following Friday night's attack on students and civilians in Gazipur, a traditional den of the Awami League, where a group of students got ambushed when they attacked the residence of veteran AL leader, the ex-liberation war affairs minister and MP from Gazipur, Mozammel Huq.
Cadres maintained by him and another AL stalwart of the region, ex-mayor Zahangir Alom, are said to have planned and executed the ambush, that left the students' movement shaken, as more than a dozen student activists had to be brought to DMCH for treatment, bleeding profusely from injuries inflicted with sharp knives
Meanwhile, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Sunday that the countrywide crackdown ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ would continue until the devils are eradicated.

Joint forces arrested 343 people under 'Operation Devil Hunt' across the country on the second day of the operation.
It brings the total arrested on the first two days of the operation till Monday afternoon to 1651, said sources at the police headquarters.
Of them, 1178 were arrested in connection with different cases against them, it said.
