Body of Bangladeshi businessman murdered in South Africa buried at home
The body of a Bangladeshi businessman, who was shot to death by unidentified miscreants in South Africa on 22 February, has been buried at his family graveyard in Jagatpur village of Daganbhuiyan Upazila on Monday morning.
Earlier, the body reached Dhaka around two o'clock on Sunday night.
The deceased was Omar Faruq (Manik Azam Sazal), 43, son of late Nurul Amin and a resident of Feni's Daganbhuiyan upazila.
Md. Hasan Imam, Officer-in-Charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station, said that the deceased Omar Faruq was a businessman in South Africa for the last 18 years and he was also former general secretary of the Bangladeshi community of the state.
Omar Faruq’s mother Kohinur Begum said that Faruq had a conflict with a local shopkeeper over some money transaction. Although it was agreed that Sajal would pay Tk5 lakh to the shopkeeper, he fell short by Tk10,000.
Sajal was killed by the shopkeeper for money, she alleged, demanding justice for the murder of her son.

Chattogram man finally buried 40hrs after death
The burial of a man who died on Saturday evening was finally completed 40 hours after his last breath, with the interference of the local administration on Monday.
Monir Ahmed, 65, former officer of Padma Oil Company, died on Saturday at 7:30 pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chattogram.
After taking the body home from the hospital, his children got involved in a dispute over the sharing of their father's pension worth Tk 50 lakh.
A meeting was held between the children, local administration and dignitaries of the area on Monday, following which his children agreed to bury their father’s body, according to Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Karnaphuli.
It was decided that after the burial of Monir Ahmed, the money left by him will be shared equally among his children. In view of that, Monir Ahmed's body was buried at his family graveyard in Bara Uthan Union of Karnaphuli Thana around 11am, added the UNO.
Earlier, the body was left in an air-conditioned ambulance from Saturday (December 24) evening to Monday morning.

Hadisur to be buried in Barguna after janaza on Tuesday morning
Md Hadisur Rahman, who was killed on March 3 in a rocket attack on a Bangladeshi vessel stranded at a Ukrainian port, will be buried at his family graveyard in Kalatala village in Betagi upazila of Barguna on Tuesday.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at 10 am Tuesday, said Maksudur Rahman Forkan, Betagi UP chairman and Hadisur’s uncle.
The freezer van carrying Hadisur's body reached his home at Kadamtala village of Barguna’s Betagi upazila at around 10 pm on Monday.
Hadisur was the third engineer of the vessel MV Banglar Samriddhi.
“My brother’s body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport carried by a Turkish Airlines flight Airport around 12.30 pm and after all the formalities we left for our village home around 2 pm,” said Golam Mowla Prince, Hadisur’s younger brother.

Cumilla HSC examinee dies from fever, cold
A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee died from fever and cold at Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex in Brahmanbaria district on Wednesday.
The deceased, Mohammad Raihan, 20, son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Balighar village in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla, had been suffering from fever, cold and breathing problems for the last few days.
Moshrat Farkhanda Jebin, resident medical officer of Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex, said the boy came to the hospital in the morning with respiratory problems and physicians referred him to Dhaka but he died there around 3pm.
Samples were collected from his body and those were sent to Dhaka for test, said Mohammad Masum, Nabinagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
Meanwhile, the boy was laid to rest at his village home in the presence of the officials of upazila administration and health office.
