Woman found hanging in Sirajganj
Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from Dattabari Madhyapara village in Sirajganj sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was Farzana Khatun,18, wife of Md Ratan of the village.

Md Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj sadar police station said locals found the body hanging from the ceiling at her house and informed the police.
Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Sirajganj Bangamata SheikhFajilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital morgue for post mortem.

The reason of her death will be known once the post mortem report is received, he added.
A case was filed in this regard.
Swapna Begum, mother of the deceased, said her daughter got married to Ratan, a weaver by profession, two years ago.

“Everything was fine. Torture of Farzana started when sister-in-law came home from Dhaka. Farzana used to say that she was threatened with death,” she said.
She claimed that her daughter was killed and hanged.

Newly-wed man dies by suicide in Chandpur
A newly-wed man allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself from the ceiling of his house at Nahara village in Kachua upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Prokash Chandra Sarkar, 27, son of Niranjan Sarkar of the village.
Ibrahim Khalil, officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station, said Prokash, an expatriate in Oman, returned to the country two months back. On March 9, he got married.
On Tuesday, Prokash along with his family went to his in-law’s house and after returning to their home at night they went to their respective rooms.
Prokash was found hanging from the ceiling early Wednesday, said his family members.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue.

The reason behind the apparent suicide could not be known immediately.
However, police suspected that Prokash might have killed himself as he failed to repay the debts.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.

Ctg youth who dreamt of becoming a cricketer commits suicide
An 18-year-old youth, whose dream was to become a cricketer, took his own life at his house in EPZ area of Chattogram, having failed to endure acute poverty.
The deceased was identified as Sagar Majumdar, son of Nayan Majumdar of the city. He was a class XI student of Islamia University College in the city.

Sagar committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in the absence of family members on Thursday night, said police.
Later, he was rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where the doctor declared him dead around 11pm.
The body was kept in CMCH morgue for an autopsy, Sadekur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pachlaish police station.
Family sources said Sagar's dream was being a cricketer. But he got mentally ill as his family had to fight with poverty due to his father’s illness.
The OC said they suspect Sagar to have committed suicide. “However, details can be known after an autopsy.”

Suicidal tendency among students
Bangladesh reports 70% more deaths from suicide than Covid-19, according to a recent study by Aachol Foundation, a student oriented non-profit social organization, published on March 14, last year.
Some 61.2 percent of young people, aged 18-25, have been suffering from depression during the pandemic, and among them 3.7 percent have attempted suicide, as per the study.

Newly wed couple found hanging in Gazipur house
A newly wed couple was found hanging from the ceiling of their house in the Safipur area of Gazipur's Kaliakoir upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Akash Hossain, 21, son of Rahidul Islam, and his wife Salma Akter, 18, of Safipur Dakkhinpara area of the upazila.
According to locals, Akash and Salma got married two months back and had been living in the house since then.

In fact, the locals peeped through the window of the house and found the two hanging, said Saiful Alam, sub-inspector at Kaliakoir Police Station.
On information, police recovered the bodies after breaking open the house door and sent the same to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
“The couple might have committed suicide. Their autopsy reports are awaited,” he said.

Teenager's body found hanging at Jashore Juvenile Centre
A teenager's body was found hanging at Jashore Juvenile Correction Centre in Jashore district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Zahurul Islam, 16, son of Zilan Mandal of Ataikula in Pabna district.
Quoting witnesses, police said the inmates of the centre found Zahurul hanging from the ceiling fan of a room and informed its higher authorities.
Later, he was taken to Jashore General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Deputy Director of Jashore Social Welfare Department, Asit Saha, said the authorities had arranged a badminton tournament at the centre on the occasion of Pahela Falgun and Valentine’s Day.
All the children were in the field.

“Zahurul might have killed himself by hanging from the ceiling fan in the absence of other children. The actual reason will be known after the postmortem,” he said.
A case was filed in this connection, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

In August, 2020, three children were beaten to death in the centre while a few children committed suicide here in different times, which raised question about the management of the Centre.

Unable to afford treatment, Chuadanga man ends life
Unable to afford treatment for his broken legs, a 45-year-old man allegedly ended his life at his home in Sumirdia village of Chuadanga on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, a driver by profession.

According to his relatives, Saiful broke both his legs in an accident a fortnight ago. He slipped into depression after being unable to arrange money for treatment.
Saiful allegedly hanged himself to death on Monday. His neighbours spotted him hanging from the ceiling and rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
At the hospital, Jannatul Ferdous, the on-duty doctor at the emergency department declared him dead on arrival.
The doctor told UNB that there were marks on his neck.

Police officer Fakrul Alam Khan said that an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the death.
"The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family members without any autopsy," he added.

Woman, daughter found dead in Chattogram
A woman and her minor daughter were found hanging from the ceiling of their house at East Gomdandi in Boalkhali upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sharmin Akter, 27, wife of Selim, and their one-and-half-year-old daughter Taslima.
Helal Uddin Faruki, officer-in-charge of Boalkhali Police Station, said Selim, a human-hauler driver, used to live in the house with his second wife and daughter.
Locals found Sharmin and her daughter hanging from the ceiling in the afternoon and informed police.
Later, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police suspected that Sharmin killed her daughter first and then killed herself over family feud.
Selim went into hiding after the incident.

Coroner: Inmate dies, found hanging at a Mississippi prison
An inmate at a Mississippi prison that was a focus of recent deadly unrest was found hanging in his cell by two corrections officers over the weekend and pronounced dead, a coroner said Sunday.
