140,000 Yaba pills seized in Cox’s Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 1,40,000 Yaba pills from the Palangkhali border in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Based on a secret source, a patrol team of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) took position in Guiza Canal area of Baharpara and challenged a suspected drug smuggler entering Bangladesh from Myanmar.
Sensing the presence of BGB, the person quickly fled towards Myanmar leaving behind a bag he was carrying, said a BGB press release.
The Yaba pills worth Tk 4.20 crore were recovered from packets inside plastic bags.
Intelligence surveillance has been increased to identify and arrest the escaped drug smuggler, Ukhia Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Zahirul Islam said.

BGB man’s body retrieved 2 days after he went missing in Bay
The body of a BGB member was recovered from the Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning, two days after he went missing while rescuing Rohingyas in the sea in Cox’s Bazar.
The deceased, Mohammad Belal, was posted as a soldier at an outpost along the Shah Porir Dwip border in Sabranj union of Teknaf upazila.
A rifle and four rounds of bullets with him were still missing, said Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Ahsan Uddin.
Two decomposed bodies recovered in Sirajganj
Earlier on Friday midnight, a boat carrying Rohingyas capsized in the sea while trying to intrude into Bangladesh from Myanmar.
Being informed, the BGB rescued 24 of them and BGB member Belal went missing.
On Saturday evening, the BGB personnel retrieved four floating bodies of the Rohingyas from the sea.
