Bangladesh Railway on Sunday morning started selling advance train tickets for June 4 journey ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. This year to ease the process for passengers, 100 percent of tickets for regular intercity trains are being sold online, with no sales at station counters. The online-based ticket sales for the Western region began at 8am and while the Eastern region will start at 2pm. Ten special trains will operate across five routes and those will run from June 4 to 6 and again from June 9 to 14, with some trains running even on Eid day. Unlike regular services, tickets for special trains will only be available at station counters and not online. A total of 43 intercity trains will operate across the country during Eid, offering around 33,315 seats. Eid Travel: Train passenger numbers surge ahead of festivities Besides, 25 percent of each train’s capacity will be allocated for standing tickets, which will also be sold at station counters. According to the Railway’s Eid schedule, tickets for May 31 went on sale on May 21, followed by June 2 tickets on May 23, and June 3 tickets on May 24. Tickets for June 5 and 6 will go on sale on May 26 and 27, respectively. Each passenger will be able to take up to four seats in a single transaction. Tickets bought in advance are non-refundable. On May 6, the Council of Advisers approved a 10-day vacation on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha, beginning on June 5.

Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start selling advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, from May 21 with tickets for May 31 journeys on the first day of sales. Depending on the sighting of the moon, Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be celebrated on June 7 or 8.
