Ferry services on Chandraghona-Raikhali route suspended for 6 days due to dredging
Ferry operations on the Chandraghona-Raikhali route in Karnaphuli River of Kaptai have been suspended for six days from Tuesday, due to the dredging work aimed at resolving navigability issues.
The ferry services were suspended from 6 am on Tuesday until 5 am on May 18 (Sunday), said Executive Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in Rangamati, Sabuj Chakma.
He said that due to the navigability crisis in the Karnaphuli River ferry movement the authorities concerned decided to keep the busy waterway for six days to facilitate dredging operations.

During this period, he urged commuters to use the Rangunia-Padua-Sukhbilash Road (Kalindi Rani Road) in Chattogram district as an alternative route.
In the dry season, reduced water levels often cause the ferry pontoons to get stuck on sandbars, disrupting the movement of vehicles.
