Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted rains coupled with lightning and temporary gusty winds in parts of the country over the next five days. “Light to moderate rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely at many places Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal  Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions,” the Met office said in a forecast for 24 hours from 9am on Thursday. Rains, thunder showers with lightning likely in all divisions in next 24hr: BMD Mild heat wave is sweeping over Madaripur, Pabna, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia & Satkhira and it may continue, it said. Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country. Besides, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay around May 26 and the southwest monsoon has already advanced up to Myanmar’s Akyab coast.
