BGB, locals foil BSF's push-in attempt along C’nawabganj border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) mmebers with support from villagers foiled an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push 12 people into Bangladesh through Chakpara border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Friday night.
Members of the BSF's 119 Battalion from the Mallik-Sultanpur border outpost switched off the border floodlights near border pillar No. 183/3-S at around 11pm before preparing to push the 12 individuals into Bangladesh, said Lt Col Tajul Islam Chowdhury, commanding officer of BGB's Mahananda-59 Battalion on Saturday.
After receiving the information, a BGB patrol team rushed to the spot and villagers also joined the border guards in maintaining a vigilant presence along the frontier.
The 12 individuals were waiting in Muslimpara area about 600 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line.
Later the BSF members took the 12 people back to a holding centre in Malda, India around 4:30 am, Lt Col Tajul said.
Lt Col Tajul Islam Chowdhury said the BGB remains on maximum alert to prevent any illegal border crossing or push-in attempt.
Regular patrols and intelligence surveillance have been strengthened along the border, he said.

BGB foils push-in of 33 through Lalmonirhat border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled attempts by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push 33 people into Bangladesh through three separate border points in Lalmonirhat early Friday.
The incidents occurred in the border areas under Hatibandha, Patgram and Aditmari upazilas of the district.
According to BGB and local sources, BSF attempted to push in 11 people through the Barakhata BOP area in Hatibandha, 10 more through the Paishattabari BOP area in Patgram, and 12 other people through the Durgapur Dighaltari border area in Aditmari.
On information, BGB personnel rushed to the spots and took preventive measures along the border. With the support of local residents, the paramilitary force successfully blocked the attempted push-ins.
The individuals involved were unable to enter Bangladesh and were staying in the no-man’s land or zero-line area, sources said.
BGB said surveillance and patrols along the border have been strengthened and the situation is being closely monitored.
In a statement, the media cell of the Lalmonirhat BGB Battalion-15 said the force remains on high alert to prevent any infiltration or push-in attempts.
“All necessary steps have been taken to safeguard the country’s border and sovereignty,” reads the statement.

19 more people pushed into Bangladesh through Khagrachari border
Nineteen more people including women and children were pushed into Bangladesh allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through Khagrachhari border early Monday morning.
BSF pushes 153 people into Bangladesh through Sylhet border
The BSF members pushed them around 3:30am through the Feni River while Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) took them under their custody and kept them at a local government primary school.
Matiranga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Manjurul Alam said they were verifying the identities of the detainees and they will be sent to their respective area after confirmation of their identities.
With these, the BSF has so far pushed 104 people into the country in the current month through borders in Khagrachari.
