Schoolteacher hacked dead in Kushtia flat
A schoolteacher was hacked to death at her house in Kushtia town on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Roksana Khanam, 52, wife of Khondker Mostafizur Rahman of the area and a senior teacher of English at Kushtia Zila School.

Nawroz Kabir Nishat, nephew of the deceased, said they found the door of Roksana’s flat locked from inside when they went to call her up around 9:30am.
“Getting no response, we called 999 and police asked us to broke the door open. We found the blood-stained body of our aunt on her bed and saw injury marks on her head. All the furniture and clothes were found scattered. We immediately informed police about the incident, who reached the spot around 11:00am,” Nishat said.
Delwar Hossain Khan, Officer In-charge (OC) of Kushtia Sadar Police Station the miscreants entered the house through the veranda and left in the same way.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. “We are currently investigating the matter,” said Delwar.
The No: 285, six-storied house in Block-D of Kushtia Town’s Housing Society was owned by Roksana, where she used to live alone due to having no children and her husband being away for his work.

Md Eftekharul Islam, Principal (Acting) of Kushtia Zila School, expressed shock upon learning about the incident.
“Besides being a good teacher, Roksana was a good human being too. I can’t imagine her having enmity with anyone. We demand a thorough investigation of the murder and exemplary punishment for the killers,” Eftekharul said.

Jubo Dal leader hacked dead in Jashore
A Jubo Dal leader was hacked to death allegedly by some miscreants in Jashore town Tuesday noon, said police.
The deceased was Badiuzzaman Dhani, 42, senior vice president of Jashore District Jubo Dal.

Some miscreants hacked Dhani indiscriminately at Chopdar Para in Shankarpur around 12pm and fled the scene, leaving him seriously injured, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali police station.
Later, he was rushed to Jashore General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, he added.
No one has been arrested in this connection yet, said the OC.

BCL leader hacked dead in Kishoreganj, 1 held
A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals as he resisted establishing dominance at Karimganj in Kishoreganj on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Huda, former vice president of district BCL, police said.

The attack took place in Kandail village around 11am when alleged terrorist Sabuj with his associates attacked Nazmul and stabbed him indiscriminately following a feud over establishing dominance in the area, leaving him dead on spot.
Sobuj was involved in various criminal activities in the area and in Haor. On Tuesday, they also clashed over establishing dominance in the area, said police.

Shamsul Alam Siddiqui, officer-in-charge (OC) of Karimganj police station said they detained a person named Manju Mia in this connection.
The body was sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital for an autopsy, he added.

Suspected terrorist hacked dead in Narail
A 40-year-old suspected terrorist was hacked to death allegedly by some miscreants at Lohagara upazila in Narail early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Khan, of the upazila. There are 13 cases including four murder and arms cases against him, said Police.

Sheikh Abu Hena Milon, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara police station, said five to seven miscreants attacked Sohel at his home in Purbodigholia village around 12am and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot. At that time, his wife Razia Sultana got injured while trying to save him.
Sohel was involved in various terrorist activities in the area, said the OC.
The body was sent to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.

2 Jubo league activists hacked dead in Jhenaidah over toll collection, 3 held
Two Jubo League activists were hacked to death in a clash between two groups over collecting toll of Kotchandpur municipality in Jhenaidah on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Akhtar Hossain, 22, and Jibon Mia, 21, of the district.

The clash broke out between Sramik league and Jubo league over controlling the toll collection at Chougacha bus stand around 11pm, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Kotchandpur Circle Mohaimenul Islam.
At one point, they attacked each other with sharp weapons, leaving Jibon Mia dead on spot and Akhtar Hossain, Sohag and Sabbir critically injured.
Akhtar succumbed to his injuries on the way to Jashore Medical College and Hospital where the other injured are undergoing treatment, the ASP added.

According to locals, Ashraful, Amirul, Sohag and Mithu of Jatiya Paribahan Sramik League, of Kotchandpur Municipality Mayor's Group, used to control the toll collection at Chougachha bus stand. However, another group was assigned with this activity recently. And so, supporters of Don and Hasan of Mayor's Group went there to snatch the control of the toll collection in the morning.
Meanwhile, police detained three people, including Don, for interrogation, said Md Moin Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotchandpur police station.
Efforts are on to nab the killers, he added.

Woman hacked to death by husband in Bagerhat
A woman was allegedly killed by her husband over a family feud in Shambagat village of Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila on Monday night.
The victim was identified as Arifa Begum, 18, wife of auto driver Helauddin of Dighlia upazila of Khulna district.

Police have arrested the woman's mother-in-law and stepmother in connection with the case, said acting officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Police station, ANM Khairul Anam.
According to Khairul, Helal went to Arifa’s house on Monday night and hacked her to death, before fleeing from the spot.
Police said that Helaluddin got married to Arifa in 2013. They have a one-year-old son.
Family sources said Helaluddin used to physically assault his wife almost regularly.

"The body has been sent to the Bagerhat sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
The woman's mother Amena Begum has filed a complaint against five, including the Helaluddin in this connection. "An FIR has been lodged. We are trying to arrest all the accused," said the OC.
