President Shahabuddin seeks Malaysian investment
President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday called on Malaysian investors to invest in Bangladesh’s various sectors, including special economic zones.
The President made the call when newly appointed Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mohd Shuhada Othman presented his credentials to him.
Earlier, a smart contingent of the President's Guard Regiment presented the High Commissioner with a guard of honour upon his arrival at Bangabhaban.

Welcoming the new Malaysian High Commissioner, President Shahabuddin said the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Bangladesh, including trade and investment, are very excellent.
He said that the recent visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Bangladesh has opened a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.
The President hoped that this relationship will reach new heights during the new High Commissioner's tenure.
Saying that Malaysia is one of the destinations for Bangladesh's manpower, he said that the Bangladeshi labor force is playing an important role in the economic development of both countries.
The President requested the Malaysian government to take effective steps to ensure that the 18,000 workers who were listed could not go to Malaysia on time.
Stating that Bangladesh is Malaysia's second largest trading partner in South Asia, the President expressed hope that bilateral trade and investment relations will further expand in the future.

Mentioning that Malaysia will assume the chairmanship of ASEAN next month, the President also expressed hope that Malaysia will co-operate and support Bangladesh in becoming an Asean Sectoral Dialogue Partner.
During the meeting, the new Malaysian High Commissioner expressed his determination to make all-out efforts to increase bilateral trade and investment.
He sought the President's overall co-operation in discharging his duties.
Senior Secretary of the President's Office Nasimul Gani, Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury and Press Secretary Joynal Abedin were present at the meeting.

Outgoing Pakistan High Commissioner calls on President
Outgoing High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh on Sunday paid a farewell call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
During the meeting, outgoing High Commissioner Imran Ahmed Siddiqui handed over a greeting letter from the President of Pakistan to President Shahabuddin.

Sweets distributed in Shahabuddin’s home district Pabna after taking oath as president
Leaders and activists of Awami League and its associated organizations brought out a joyous procession and distributed sweets in different parts of Pabna today, soon after Mohammed Shahabuddin was sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh at a ceremony in Bangabhaban.
Shahabuddin took oath as president at 11 am.

Pabna district unit Awami League arranged a big screen showing the oath-taking ceremony at the Awami League office.
A doa mahfil was arranged at the office and sweets were distributed among people.

Modi congratulates President-elect Md Shahabuddin
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to 22nd president-elect of Bangladesh Md Shahabuddin.
In a congratulatory message to Mohammad Shahabuddin recently, the Indian Prime Minister said, “On behalf of the Government and the people of India, I wish to extend warmest congratulations to you on your election as the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.”
“Your contribution as a freedom fighter and experience as a jurist brings great value to this high office,” said Narendra Modi in the message.
The Prime Minister said that the two countries have a unique bilateral relationship which is firmly rooted in countries’ shared sacrifices and is nurtured by vibrant cultural and people-to-people ties.

Putin congratulates President-elect of Bangladesh Md Shahabuddin
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has congratulated President-elect of Bangladesh Mohammad Shahabuddin.
In a congratulatory message to Mohammad Shahabuddin recently, the Russian President said, "Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh."
President Putin said the two countries have been maintaining traditionally friendly relations.

President-elect Shahabuddin quits Islami Bank
President-elect Md Shahabuddin resigned from the board of directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL), a top official of the bank said on Tuesday.
IBBL Managing Director Muhammad Munirul Mawla told UNB that Shahabuddin resigned from the bank on Sunday after the ruling Awami League nominated him for the post of president.

On behalf of JMC Builders, Chittagong, he was appointed as the director of the bank in June 2017, and was subsequently appointed as the vice chairman.
