Woman burned to death in Chattogram fire
A sexagenarian woman was charred to death when a fire broke out at her house at Amuchia in Boalkhali of Chattogram district early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Protibha Mohajon, wife of Swapan Mohajon of the area.
Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Boalkhali fire Station, said the fire broke out at the cowshed of one Swapan Mohajan around 1:30 am following an electric short circuit and engulfed three adjoining houses.
Noticing fire, Prothibha and Swapan tried to bring out the cows from the cowshed.

At one stage, fire caught Prothibha when she tried to sace valuables, leaving her dead on the spot.
Three cows were also burnt in the fire.
On information, two firefighting units extinguished the fire.

Couple die in fire in Gazipur city
A couple was burned to death in a fire that broke out at a house in Konabari, Gazipur city on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shafiqur Rahman and Nasrin Akter, tenants who were from Dimla in Nilphamari district.
AKM Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of Konabari Police Station, said the fire broke out on the ground floor of the six-storey building, owned by one Sukkur Shikdar, in the early hours on Saturday.
The security guard of the building first noticed the fire and informed others.

Later, locals broke into the house and found the burnt bodies of the couple.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.

4-year-old boy charred to death in Sherpur
A four-year-old boy was charred to death in a fire that engulfed his family house in Sherpur on Friday night, fire officials said.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain, son of Amir Hossain of Babarchar Baldiapara village in Sribordi upazila.
The fire broke out at the cowshed of a person, named Ishak Ali, from charcoal bran kept there to drive away mosquitoes around 8 pm and spread quickly to two adjacent dwelling houses, said Ariful Islam, station officer of Sribordi Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense.

All the occupants of the two houses, except the child, managed to get out, he said.
On information, a fire tender was rushed to the spot. After the flames were doused, firemen recovered the charred body of the boy from one of the houses.

105-yr-old woman charred to death in Natore
A 105-year-old woman was charred to death in a fire that broke out at her house in Agpurulia village of Natore district on Friday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Guljan Bewa of the village in Gurudaspur upazila.
Akhtar Hamid Khan, an officer of Natore Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fire broke out at the house of a person named Bakkar Ali and soon spread to the adjoining nine houses.

Jhalakathi launch fire: Death toll climbs to 50
The death toll from the deadly Jhalakathi launch fire rose to 50, with another victim succumbing to her injuries at a hospital on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Manika Rani Haldar, an assistant teacher at Gagan Memorial High School.
Manika, who had suffered 30% burns and was on life support in the intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, passed away around 9.30pm, said resident surgeon Dr SM Ayub Hossain.
The toll reached 49 on January 3, with the death of another person, a 38-year-old, at the institute.

The fire broke out on the Barguna-bound launch carrying some 800 passengers from Dhaka, off the coast of Jhalakathi on December 24.
On December 26, the chief inspector of the Department of Shipping, Shafiqur Rahman, filed a case against eight people, including four co-owners of the launch, under the Marine Act in the Marine Court.

Mugda fire: Another victim dies at DMCH
A 35-year-old man, who sustained injuries in a fire in the city’s Mugda area, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sudhangshu, a resident of the area.

Dr SM Ayub Hossain of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Sudhuangshu, who received 25 percent burn injuries on November 22 (Monday) succumbed to his injuries in the early hours on Saturday.
The fire broke out from gas cylinder leakage around 7.30 am on Monday on the ground floor of an apartment at Matobbor Gali of Mugda.
Four of a family- Sudhangshu, Prianka, 32, Arup, 5 and Shefali, 55- sustained burn injuries during the fire.
Priyanka’s brother Palash said that the four family members suffered burn injuries as they lit the stove in the morning unaware of the gas leakage.

Later, they were taken to the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Priyanka, who received 72 percent burns, succumbed to her injuries around 3am on Tuesday while her son Arup died around 11pm on Monday.

Mirpur fire: Another victim dies at DMCH
The death toll from the fire incident in the city’s Mirpur area rose to five as another victim died on Wednesday.
Renu Begum, 35,who was undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, breathed her last around 6:30 am.
Renu received 35 percent burn injuries from the fire and was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, said SM Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon of the Hospital.
Earlier on August 25,seven people including three women and a child sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at a building at Pallabi in Mirpur.

The fire broke out on the ground floor of the six-storey building of Rafiqul Islam when worker Sumon was repairing a gas pipeline around 11:15 pm, leaving seven people injured.
