Bagerhat, Nov 07 (UNB)-Police recovered the body of a madrasa student in Kochua upazila  of Bagherhat district on Sunday morning, two days after he had gone missing. The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 25, son of Monir Sheikh of Tengrakhali village and  a student of Madhobkathi  Madrasa in the localily.   Read: Valuables stolen from UNB Bagerhat Corr house Quoting family members, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kochua  Police Station Iqbal Hossain said Mehedi went missing on Friday evening. Local people spotted the body in a ditch in a banana orchard of Tengrakhali village and informed police.   Several injury marks were found on the victim’s body. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.    

Police arrested a madrasa student from Chakaria on Sunday for allegedly recording a video with derogatory comments on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and uploading it on Facebook. The arrestee was identified as Md Nurul Ajad, 29, a 3rd year student of Amjadia Rafiqul Ulum Fazil Madrasa. Cox’s Bazar police superintendent Hasanujjaman said Rafikul recorded a video using obscene language for the PM and Awami League’s factions regarding the yesterday’s incident of Hefazat’s leader Maulana Mamunul Haque and his claimed wife at Sonargaon. Later the accused uploaded the video on Facebook, said police. On Saturday, Hefazat-e-Islam’s Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque was detained with a woman in a resort room in Sonargaon whom he claimed to be his second wife. Mahanagar Hefazat’s secretary Ferdausur Rahman said Mamunul went to the resort with his second wife where the local Chatra League and Jubo League leaders confined and harassed him, before calling in the police. Later, on Saturday night, supporters of Mamunul Haque went on the rampage in Narayanganj and vandalised the resort in Sonargaon from where he was detained. As the situation was getting out of hand, police released Mamunul Haque to the demonstrating madrasa folks. The saga of destruction continued yet after as the protestors blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway vandalized and set fire to local AL office and Jubo League Leader’s vehicle.

The High Court on Thursday wanted to know what action has been taken against the Chattogram Madrasa teacher who brutally tortured a student and a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Two people, including a madrasa student, were killed and two others injured as a wall collapsed in Muslimbag area of Keraniganj on Sunday.
