Body of missing Bangladeshi found in India’s Tripura
The body of a Bangladeshi man was found in the Gournagar area of India’s Tripura, two days after he went missing from his home in Habiganj.
Zahur Ali (60), son of Mansub Ullah of Paschim Dulna village in Chunarughat upazila, was found dead on Monday, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confirmed on Tuesday.
BGB Habiganj battalion Commander Lt Col Tanzil said that Zahur Ali, who reportedly had mental health issues, crossed into India through the Manikbhandar area near the Guibil border outpost on Monday.
Later that day, locals in Gournagar area in Tripura spotted a body lying by the roadside and informed Indian police. Officers from Khowai police station recovered the body and transported it to Khowai District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Zahur’s family and locals said he worked as a security guard for a company in Dhaka and had returned to his village on leave on January 4. The next day, he left home with clothes, saying he intended to sell them, but never returned.
Indian media outlets reported the discovery of Zahur's body on Monday and locals in his village identified him from social media posts on Tuesday morning.
Khowai Police Station in India has launched an investigation regarding the cause of his death.
BGB said that Zahur’s body would be handed over to Bangladeshi authorities following the investigation.

Govt condemns arson attack on Tripura community's homes in Bandarban
The interim government has strongly condemned the arson attack on the homes of the Tripura community in Lama upazila of Bandarban district.
Bandarban police said they have sent their officers to the spot.
Police have also carried out raids to arrest the culprits, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said in a statement on Thursday morning.
An FIR has been filed over the incident, he said.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district and its police chief will visit the village on Thursday morning.
They have been instructed to extend all-out assistance for the reconstruction of the torched houses.
Police have also stepped up security measures in the area, Azad said.

Bangladesh wants to work as knowledge partner with Tripura: Palak
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said Bangladesh wants to work as a knowledge partner with Tripura in making ‘Smart Tripura’ alongside building Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
“Since Bangladesh and Tripura share similar climate, environment and culture, if they want they can formulate policies together on smart education, healthcare, agriculture and environment in building innovative nations,” he said.
The state minister made this remark while chairing the 'Digital Bangladesh IT Business Summit 2022' held at an Agartala hotel in the Indian state of Tripura on Thursday, said a PID handout on Friday.

Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb was present as the chief guest at the IT summit, organised jointly by Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority of the ICT Division and Bangladesh mission in Agartala.
Highlighting the objectives of the summit, Palak said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the Architect of Digital Bangladesh, has created opportunities for the talented youths of Bangladesh. The employment for some 2 million youths was created in the IT sector of Bangladesh, he said.
Within only 13 years, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina transformed Bangladesh into a middle-income digital Bangladesh with her honesty, foresightedness and courage, he said.

Palak said Bangladesh and India share a cordial, friendly and trustable relationship. Bangladesh wants to move forward together by making the relationship closer and stronger, he added.

Eviction fear grips Sitakunda Tripura ethnic community
The ethnic Tripura community of Sonaichhari in Sitakunda upazila, Chattogram are in constant fear as some local influential people have allegedly been trying to evict them from their century-old land.
Tripuras live in different areas of Bangladesh, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Sitakunda and Mirsarai upazilas of Chittagong, Bilonia upazila of Noakhali district, and Cumilla, Chandpur, Moulavibazar, Srimangol, Rajbari and in Faridpur and Dhaka districts.
The indigenous inhabitants of Tripura Para at Sonaichhari alleged that Abul Khayer Group, a Chattogram-based business conglomerate, is trying to grab their land illegally.

The Tripura community members are passing their days in fear of eviction from their 150-year-old land as the influential people of Abul Khayer Group have long been asking them to leave the place.
They are receiving threats from some local influential people backed by Abul Khayer Group and land grabbers, they alleged.
The land grabbers are now engaged in fencing the whole Tripura Para hill, said the residents.
