BNP leader Swadhin appointed administrator of Bogura City Corporation
BNP leader M R Islam Swadhin has been appointed administrator of the newly formed Bogura City Corporation.
The Ministry of Local Government issued a notification on Monday in this regard, and Swadhin assumed office at the ministry on Tuesday morning.
According to the notification, he will serve in the post under Section 25A(1) of ``the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024,’’ until further orders.
The notification also said that he will exercise the powers and duties of the mayor until a new elected council is formed for the city corporation. He will be entitled to allowances and benefits as per rules during his tenure.
Swadhin is a resident of Baksibazar Road in Maltinagar area under Bogura Sadar upazila.

Bogura City Corporation, five new upazilas get NICAR nod
The government on Thursday approved the formation of Bogura City Corporation and five new upazilas across the country.
The approval was given at the 120th meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms/Reorganisation (NICAR) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair, said the PM’s Press Wing.
The new upazilas are Mokamtola in Bogura, Matamuhuri in Cox’s Bazar, Ruhia and Bhulli in Thakurgaon and Chandraganj in Lakshmipur district.
Govt orders senior officials to fly economy class on foreign trips
Mokamtola upazila will be formed by dividing Shibganj upazila in Bogura district while Matamuhuri upazila will be created by splitting Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
In Thakurgaon, the existing sadar upazila will be divided to form two new upazilas — Ruhia and Bhulli.
Chandraganj upazila will be established by dividing Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
