Housewife found slaughtered in Bogura
A housewife was slaughtered allegedly by unidentified assailants at her house in Gabtali upazila of Bogura early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rita Rani Majumder, 45, wife of Biplab Chandra Roy of Mominhata Southpara area of the upazila.
The victim’s husband said he woke up suddenly around 12:15am after hearing loud banging on their bedroom door. Shortly afterwards, he heard his wife groaning in another room.
Rushing to the room, he found Rita Rani lying on the floor in a pool of blood with her throat slit and the main door of the house open, he said.
As he raised alarm, neighbours rushed in and informed police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Gabtali Circle) Humayun Kabir said police recovered the body after receiving information.
Primarily, it appears that criminals stormed into the house and killed the woman using a sharp weapon, he said, adding that police launched an investigation to identify those involved in the incident and arrest them.
