The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Wednesday approved a proposal to extend the existing contract for the online collection of motor vehicle (MV) taxes and fees for the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The recommendation came at a meeting of the committee held at the Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. According to official sources, the proposal was submitted by the Road Transport and Highways Division to facilitate the continuation and expansion of services related to the collection of MV taxes and fees through the online banking platform. The original contract value stood at Tk 218.71 crore. A variation amounting to Tk 21.43 crore has been proposed, raising the revised contract value to Tk 240.14 crore, which is 9.8 percent higher than the original contract amount. The recommended contractor is Computer Network Systems (CNS) Limited.
