Police detained a 55-year-old grocery shop owner on Friday afternoon for allegedly sexually harassing an 8-year-old girl in the Bhutiyarghati area of Jhenaidah district town. The detainee was identified as Liton Biswas, a resident of Bhutiyarghati Biswaspara area. According to a local resident, Jahid Hossain, Liton lured the girl into his grocery shop by offering her chocolates  at noon and subsequently harassed her sexually. Lone accused in child rape case sentenced to death in Chattogram When the victim returned home and disclosed the ordeal to her family, furious relatives and locals gave Liton a good thrashing before alerting the authorities. Locals also alleged that Liton had been involved in similar unethical activities in the past. Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station, said Liton was brought to the police station following the allegation. "Legal action will be taken once a written complaint is filed by the victim’s family," the OC said.    The victim has been admitted to the hospital for a medical examination, he also added.
