MCJ Club Limited, a newly established social club for graduates of mass communication, journalism and related disciplines, commenced its activities with the first meeting of its Board of Directors in the capital. The meeting was held at a restaurant in Dhaka on Friday evening after the club completed its registration and other necessary formalities. MCJ Club Limited President Hasnain Khurshed chaired the meeting, while General Secretary Rakib Hasnet Suman conducted it. Directors Elias Khan, Sharmeen Rimvy, Sharmin Akhter, Ahmed Sagor, Muhammad Zahidul Islam Sajal, Mohiuddin Niloy and Shakil Hasan attended the meeting. The other directors of the 13-member board are Zahid Newaz Khan Jewel, Sayadul Islam, Nurul Karim Bhuiyan and Shahed Alam. The club said former students of Mass Communication and Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Broadcast, Television and related departments of any recognised university in Bangladesh will be eligible for membership, subject to meeting the prescribed criteria. The management committee has decided to open general membership for eligible applicants at the earliest possible time. The club recently completed its registration with the Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC), officially establishing MCJ Club Limited as a registered organisation. Several decisions were taken at Friday’s meeting, including the allocation of responsibilities among executive committee directors, finalisation of general membership policies and allocation of special membership numbers. The meeting also decided to form several subcommittees to oversee different activities of the club. The Board of Directors said MCJ Club Limited would undertake various initiatives to strengthen networking among its members and with the corporate sector. The club will also arrange recreational and social activities for its members and their families, it said.
