Bangladesh has embarked on a transformation journey to become a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, moving beyond the fragile economy inherited from the deposed regime, Prime Minister’s Finance and Planning Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has said. Speaking as the chief guest at the biennial convention of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) in Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday, he said the government is pursuing a new development model based on recovery, restoration and reconstruction. The model focuses on investment, production, employment and increased public investment in education and healthcare, the adviser said. He said Bangladesh aims to establish itself as a competitive manufacturing hub through industrial diversification, higher productivity and technological advancement. Titumir urged Bangladeshi-American engineers, scientists and technology entrepreneurs to act as a bridge to the US innovation ecosystem by connecting Bangladesh with leading universities, research laboratories, technology companies and investors.
