16 Bangladeshi youths return after serving jail term in India
Sixteen Bangladeshi youths returned home on Sunday night from India through the Benapole check post after serving three years in an Indian prison.
Benapole Immigration OC Mohammad Kamruzzaman said the youths went to India without valid documents through human traffickers and then were detained by police while they were working at various shops and hotels in Tamil Nadu state.

Later they were handed over to a court which sentenced them to three years of imprisonment.
At the end of the sentence, the ministries of home affairs of the two countries took initiative to send them back to Bangladesh.
The Indian immigration police handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station and NGO ‘Justice and Care’ received them.

The returnees are Bulbul Ahmed,18, Mohsin Sheikh ,17, Abul Hossain ,16, Masum Billah 15, Rezaul Khan 18, Shahjalal 17, Hasan Halder 17, Nazmul Islam 17, Masud Talukder 18, Zulhas Sheikh 18, Rashed Morel 17, Rashedul Islam 18, Saiduzzaman 16, Abu Musa 15, Mizanur Rahman,17 and Mahbul Shikder 17. They hail from different areas of Satkhira, Khulna and Madaripur districts.

Indian woman dies from stroke at Benapole check post
A 51-year-old Indian woman died from a stroke while standing in a queue for international passengers at Benapole check post in Jashore on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Biplabi Das, wife of Rabitosh from Phoolbagan area in India’s West Bengal, said her nephew Shanto Chandra Dey.
The incident occurred around 10 am while Biplabi was standing at the exit side of the Benapole passenger terminal.

Shanto Chandra said they came to Bangladesh to visit some relatives and was standing in the line for a long time to complete the custom immigration work at the terminal to return to India.
At one point my aunt said she was feeling unwell and fell unconscious, he said.
When she was taken to Nabharan upazila health complex she was declared dead by the duty doctor, said Abul Kalam Azad, in charge officer of Benapole Checkpost immigration.

Woman held with 30,000 USD in Benapole
A woman has been detained at Benapole check post along with 30,000 US Dollar, BGB officials said Wednesday.
The detainee is Jerin Sultana, 35, daughter of Nazim Uddin of Dendabar village in Savar’s Ashulia.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 detained Jerin, who returned from India, when she was waiting to cross the check post after completing the customs immigration process on Tuesday evening.

Jashore BGB-49 Captain Lt. Colonel Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui said subsequent checking of her baggage led to the seizure of the US dollars.
A case was filed against the detainee under Money Laundering Act with the Benapole port police.
She was handed over to police, added the officer.
