An unidentified woman and a child died as they fell under the wheels of a train at Bijoypur of Laksham upazila in Cumilla district on Wednesday night. Quoting locals, Masud Alam, officer-in-charge of Laksham Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound train of ‘Sonar Bangla Express’ hit the woman and the child while they were crossing Dhaka-Chattogram rail track near Bijoypur around 7:30 pm, leaving both dead on the spot. A 28-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding train in the Salimpur area of Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, son of Shah Alam of Fakirhat area in the upazila. Read: 75-yr-old killed in road accident in Dhaka Md Zahir, an assistant sub-inspector with the Fouzdarhat police camp, said Faruk was playing guitar while sitting on the rail track near his house around 8pm on Tuesday. The speeding Karnaphuli Express coming from Dhaka hit him, leaving him critically injured, the officer said. "He was taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival."  

A trader was killed being hit by a freight train on Khilgaon level crossing in Dhaka on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Elias Mahmud,47, a resident of Basabo area. He had a business of lighting signboard. Witnesses said he fell down when The Kamalapur Railway Station- bound freight  train hit him while he was passing the level crossing.
