Mother, daughter among 4 going to get Zakat clothes crushed under train in Tangail
Four women, including a mother and daughter, were crushed under the wheels of a train on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway at Mirhamjani in Kalihati upazila of Tangail district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Basanti Rani, Aroti Rani Das, Shanti Rani and her daughter Shilpi Rani.
Maniruzzaman Manir, station master of Bangabandhu Bridge East Rail Station, said the accident occurred around 5:30 am when the Dhaka-bound ‘Ekota Express’ train hit the four while they were walking on the rail tracks, leaving them dead.

They met the tragic end while heading towards Salla to receive Zakat clothes early this morning.
On information, police recovered the bodies.

Ex-DGM of Bangladesh Bank crushed under train in city
A 59- year old man was crushed under the wheels of a train at Khilgaon level crossing in the capital Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Fakhrul Islam, former Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, said Md Riaz Mahmud, Sub Inspector of Dhaka railway police station.

Intercity express train ‘Sundarban Express’ knocked down Fakhrul Islam as he was walking on the rail tracks around 8:30 am, leaving him dead on the spot, said the SI.
Fakhrul used to live in Wari area with his family.

2 crushed under trains in B’baria
Two people were crushed under the wheels of separate trains at Alamnagar and Jatrapur areas in Ashuganj upazila of Barhmanbaria district on Tuesday.
One of the deceased was identified as Kaiyum, 55, of Sylhet district while identity of another deceased could not be known.

In Jatrapur, a 25-year-old unidentified youth was killed after being hit by Chattogram-bound ‘Mahanagar Prabhati’ train while crossing the rail tracks in the morning, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Salauddin Khan Noman, in-charge of Brahmanbaria railway station police outpost.
In Alamnagar, Kaiyum was killed after being hit by another train around 9:30 am while crossing the rail tracks, said the SI.

The bodies were sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the SI added.

NGO worker crushed under train in Rajshahi
A 45-year-old man was crushed under the wheels of a train at a level crossing in Rajshahi city on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Farooq Hossain, an official of a non-governmental organization of the city.

Rakibur Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajshahi Railway Police Station, said the train hit the man while he was crossing the level crossing on a motorcycle at Dingadoba Eidgah area in the evening, leaving him dead on spot.
There was no gateman at the level crossing, he added.

A case will be filed in this regard, he added.

2 youths wearing headphones crushed under train in Natore
Two youths were crushed under the wheels of a train at Abdulpur railway junction in Lalpur of Natore while they were crossing the rail tracks wearing headphones on Sunday evening.
The deceased were identified as Rocky and Sakib.

Emdadaul Haque, station master of Abdulpur Railway Junction, said Dhaka-bound Banalata Express train hit the youths while they were walking near a rail track wearing headphones, leaving Rockey dead on the spot.
Sakib was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries Monday noon, said Fazlur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalpur Police Station.

Four teens crushed to death by speeding train in Nilphamari
Four teenagers playing near a railway track were crushed to death by a speeding train in Nilphamari's Sadar upazila early on Wednesday morning.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. But all of them were boys aged between 12 and 14 years, police said.
The accident occurred around 7am when the four teenagers were playing near the railway track in the Boubazar area of the upazila.

"Rajshahi-bound Titumir Express hit the boys, leaving them dead on the spot," said Lutfur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Nilphamari Government Railway Police.
Train accidents in Bangladesh
Train accidents are common in Bangladesh, many at unmanned level crossings and some due to the poor condition of tracks.
According to data provided by the Bangladesh Railway, in August 2019, only 466 gates of its 1,412 level crossings had gatemen.
In November 2019, a deadly collision occurred between Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita Express and Chattogram-bound Udayan Express on the Dhaka-Chattogram route near the Mandbagh railway station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The train crash had left at least 16 people dead and over 100 others injured.
At least 113 people, including 26 women and 11 children, were killed in railway accidents between January 1 and June 30 this year, according to a July report, jointly prepared by the Green Club of Bangladesh (GCB) and the National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railways.
