ENG v BAN: Virtuoso show from Shakib spares Tigers' blushes in 3rd ODI
Bangladesh claimed victory over England by 50 runs to avoid a whitewash at home in the third and final match of the three-match ODI series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.
Premier all rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit a breezy 75 to guide the Tigers' innings and then scalped four wickets to help the hosts recover some morale after losing the first two matches and the series. With his fourth wicket, Shakib became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take 300 or more wickets in ODIs.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal elected to bat first. However, his decision backfired as Litton Das was dismissed for a duck in the very first over. Tamim himself couldn't last long as he was caught by James Vince off Sam Curran after scoring just 11 runs off 6 balls. But Najmul Hossain Shanto steadied the ship with a patient knock of 53 off 71 balls.
In the third wicket stand, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shanto added 98 runs, helping the hosts recover from the early damage. However, Shanto lost his wicket while running late for a single.

Mushfiqur ended up on 70, while Shakib made 75 runs off 71 balls with seven fours. Bangladesh posted a total of 246 for all wickets in 48.5 overs, riding on their batting effort.
Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, and Mehdiy Hasan Miraz failed to do well in this match. For England, Jofra Archer scalped three wickets while Sam Curran and Adil Rashid took two wickets each.
In reply, England's openers, Jason Roy and Phil Salt, got off to a good start, adding 54 runs for the first wicket. But Shakib struck thrice in quick succession, removing both openers and James Vince, reducing England to 55 for 3. Sam Curran and Jos Buttler then put up a fight with a partnership of 47 runs. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz ended Curran's resistance as he was caught for 23 runs.
Buttler then fell lbw to Taijul Islam for 26, and England's hopes of a victory were all but over. Chris Woakes was the only batsman who showed some resistance in the late order with a fighting knock of 34 runs off 46 balls. However, he was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman in the 44th over, and England were eventually bowled out for 196 runs in 43.1 overs.
Shakib was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, finishing with figures of 4 for 35 in his 10 overs. Ebadot Hossain and Taijul Islam also picked up two wickets each.

BPL 2023: Comilla continue on winning run
Comilla Victorians registered their third win in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Thursday, beating Dhaka Dominators by a margin of 33 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
It had been their sixth match in the competition. Before three consecutive wins, they had unfortunately suffered three consecutive losses.
Comilla batted first and, despite Liton Das' unfortunate duck, posted a total of 184 runs for four wickets in 20 overs.
After falling behind early with the loss of Liton in the first over, Mohammad Rizwan steadied the ship with a superbly crafted 55-run knock off 47 balls, featuring 1 four and 3 maximums, as he remained unbeaten. Imrul Kayes then helped the Victorians' total with 33 off 26 deliveries, punctuated by 3 fours and 2 sixes.

The ill-fated run chase of the Dominators began with a setback as Ahmed Shehzad could only manage 19 runs before getting dismissed, while Soumya Sarkar and Robin Das failed to even get off the mark and were both sent back to the pavilion for a duck.
Mohammad Mithun made 36 from 34 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six, before he was dismissed by Mosaddek Hossain. Nasir Hossain, the captain of Dhaka, posted 66 off 45 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes, but it wasn't enough to steer the Dominators to victory.

Bangladesh ended up on 330 being all out in 114.4 overs in their first innings of the Chattogram Test after Hasan Ali registered a five-for in the first session of day two on Saturday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Right before the launch break, Hassan bagged two wickets in two balls to wrap up Bangladesh in 330. In the first session of day two alone, Bangladesh lost six wickets and four of them went to Hasan. It was his sixth five-wicket haul in Tests.

Right after Liton’s dismissal, the debutant Yasir Ali also went back to the dressing room adding only four in 19 balls.
These two early wickets may have inspired Mushfiqur to stagnate himself and go slowly. But he was removed by Faheem Ashraf. The delivery was off stump, Mushfqiur went to push it forward, but the ball touched his bat before going to the wicketkeeper. Mushfiqur went for a review which showed a clear spike.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz added some crucial runs— 38 off 68 balls with six fours. But he remained unbeaten as he did not get enough assistance from the tailenders.
