18 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24hrs
No fresh death due to dengue was reported in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, 18 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever during this period, according to the DGHS.
Dengue: Bangladesh reports zero death with 20 new cases in 24 hrs
Of them, five were admitted in Dhaka hospitals, while the rest were outside the capital.
A total of 133 dengue patients, including 50 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
Dengue claims two more lives
So far, 945 dengue cases have been reported since January 1, 2024.
Last year, a total of 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
1 more dengue patient dies; 32 hospitalised in 24hrs
The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries last year.
Last year’s September was the deadliest month for the dengue outbreak, with 396 fatalities and 79,598 cases, according to DGHS data.

Mirza Fakhrul hospitalised
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was admitted to Dhaka's Evercare Hospital this morning.
He was admitted to the hospital for a health checkup around 10:30am as he was feeling unwell, BNP's Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said.

Fakhrul has been suffering from various health complications, including heart problems, which intensified during his recent imprisonment.
He walked out of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on January 9 after the bail order reached the jail authorities.
On January 8, the Appellate Division upheld the High Court order granting bail to Fakhrul and BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas in a case filed over the clash between police and the party activists at Nayapaltan on December 7 last year.

On December 9, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police picked up Fakhrul and Abbas from their homes in separate raids in the capital, a day before the party’s much-talked about rally in the capital.
Later, they were shown arrested in a case over the clash between police and the party activists in the capital's Nayapaltan on December 7, centring the rally. A Dhaka court sent them to jail rejecting their bail pleas.

Dengue: 1 dies, 20 more patients hospitalised in 24 hrs
One person died and twenty people were hospitalized with dengue in the 24 hours till Monday morning.
Of the new patients, nine were admitted to the hospitals in Dhaka and 11 outside it, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 170 dengue patients, including 57 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country
So far, DGHS recorded 289 dengue cases and 118 recoveries this year with one death.

The country reported 281 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease last year, the highest ever dengue fatalities recorded in a single year in Bangladesh. The previous record of 179 deaths was reported in 2019.
The DGHS has recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the past year.

41 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours
Forty-one more people were hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours till Sunday morning.
The official death toll from the mosquito-borne disease remained unchanged at 281 as no death was recorded during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 21 were admitted to the hospitals of Dhaka and 20 outside it, said DGHS.
A total of 249 dengue patients, including 152 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

Forty-seven more people were hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours till Saturday morning.
The official death toll from the mosquito-borne disease remained unchanged at 281 as no death was recorded during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 26 were admitted to the hospitals of Dhaka and 21 outside it, said DGHS.

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant hospitalised after car crash
Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was hospitalized on Friday with non life-threatening injuries sustained in a car crash in northern India.
Pant, 25, was driving the car that overturned and caught fire after hitting a road divider near Roorkee, his hometown in Uttarakhand state, Ravi Bijaria, a state government spokesman said.

He was alone in the car at the time of the accident, Bijaria said — “he suffered injuries on his forehead and leg."
State police officer Ashok Kumar said Pant lost control of the car and that Pant was pulled out of the vehicle by local villagers.
Pant’s hometown is nearly 190 kilometers (120 miles) north of New Delhi.
Pant has scored 2,271 runs in 33 tests. He has also represented the country in 30 one-day internationals and 66 Twenty20 matches.

Pant was part of the Indian team that defeated Bangladesh in a test series earlier this month.
He made his T-20 debut as a wicketkeeper-batsman in 2017 and played his first test and one-day international for India in 2018.

506 new Dengue patients hospitalised
Another 506 patients were hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
Of the new patients, 367 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 139 outside it.
A total of 1,874 dengue patients, including 1,427 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
This year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to 55 on Wednesday with another death reported from Chattogram.

Of the total deaths, 27 were reported from Dhaka division, 24 from Chattogram and four from Barishal division.
On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease.
This year, the directorate has recorded 15,852 dengue cases and 13,923 recoveries so far.

53 more dengue patients hospitalised
The country confirmed 53 more dengue – a viral infection – cases in the 24 hours to Friday morning.
Fifty new patients were admitted to the hospitals of Dhaka and three outside it, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Three hundred and forty-six dengue patients, including 274 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

Thursday, this year's death toll from the mosquito-borne viral disease rose to 16 with one more death reported from Dhaka.
Of all the deceased, 10 were reported from Cox's Bazar and six from Dhaka.
On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease. In July, it recorded 1,571 dengue cases and nine deaths.
This year, the DGHS has recorded 3,551 dengue cases and 3,189 recoveries so far.

Four kids succumb to pneumonia in Bhola, over 400 hospitalised
Bhola is witnessing a rise in cases of pneumonia and other cold-related diseases, particularly among kids.
At least four children have died and more than 400 others hospitalised in the district in the past one month, health authorities said on Friday.
Three of the four children who succumbed to pneumonia belonged to Bhola sadar upazila, while the fourth one was a resident of Charfasson upazila, according to Bhola Civil Surgeon’s office.

Health authorities attributed the deaths and hospitalisations to excessive heat followed by copious showers.
On Friday, 10 more children were hospitalised with pneumonia in the 30-bed children ward of Bhola General Hospital. Besides, over 50 patients are being treated just for cold-related diseases in the 250-bed hospital.
Due to a shortage of beds, some patients have been shifted to different hospitals in the seven upazilas of the district.

Dr Tamnnaye Habiba of Bhola General Hospital, said,” Children are more prone to pneumonia and the infection might be rising due to inclement weather. We also have a shortage of doctors and staff but are trying our best to treat patients efficiently.”

64 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hrs
Sixty-four more dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among them, 58 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka while the remaining six in other places, it said.
As many as 311 dengue patients including 241 in the capital are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

On Tuesday, this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne viral disease rose to eight with another death reported from Cox’s Bazar. Among the deaths, five were reported from Cox’s Bazar while three from Dhaka.
